Co-op Mega Man

as noted in this Resident Evil 5 interview, and Protodude's site, Capcom wants to use a lot more cooperative gameplay in future titles.

years ago, when i thought Mega Man 9 would never come, my friends and i started thinking of ideas for our own MM9. one of the big things we thought up was a sort of tag team gameplay with Mega and Proto Man. i believe if one person was playing, the two could be swapped out X8 style. but if there were two players, both Mega and Proto would be on screen at the same time, with P1 as Mega and P2 as Proto, or vice versa.

this interview may very well hint that our idea can become a reality. but it may not necessarily be in Classic Mega Man. the same could work for X. or if Capcom takes my suggestion of using RE4/5's engine for Legends 3, co-op would fit in naturally.

I remember reports that X7 was suppose to be a Co-Op game.  It wasn't, obviously.

A Co-Op MegaMan game would be so awesome.  Especially with Rock, Roll, Blues, and Forte as well.

Yeah. I would definetly like Forte in it. also, I think Duo should be brought back into the picture. he added quite the variety to the all buster group. sure, he uses a buster type attack in PF, but he could STILL be  mixed up with some interesting gameplay. like, that turning into a meteor, or acutally using his hand other than shooting it. (shining finger anybody?)

The only problem would be actual traversing of the stages. I can't even think of a good example of a platforming co-op game.

Also, totally unrelated, but someone controlling Yoshi in SMW while you're punching Yoshi in the head with Mario would be all sorts of fun

Still, co-op screams Mega Man X9. Or Xtreme 3 for the DS (where you can call in Zero).

It should have been done. Even if it wouldn't have been canon, it would have been excellent marketing, and it would have beaten out all the other MMORPG's as far as adoption rates are concerned.
