Just wasn't as dramatic.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Well, it didn't have that whole rigamarole with going after Dr. Marcoh.  Was that it?

Care to explain?

It was all Envy's fault. In the first anime his role as Lt. Ross was much better, and Hughes fought back, which gave you the illusion he would actually make it out of there alive. Plus, Envy just put a stupid face when he transformed into Gracia.

Also, the scene where he apologizes and bleeds around was not as good. I liked it better when he just stood there, then fell down in slow motion into a flashback. On the other hand, I liked the part when Envy hung the phone.

I also miss Ed seeing the ghost from the train, but that's just pure nostalgia factor.

Meh- I just found the presentation to be not as dramatic.

I kinda liked the first Hughes anime death too. That one just felt so much more better to watch than the second season's rendition, no matter how faithful it was to the manga.

I want to know something about this series, what exactly is the difference for plot between it and the first anime? Is this one more faithful to the manga? I heard there was supposed to be a series about Al searching for his brother while Ed was stuck in our world during WWII and in Nazi Germany, but it wasn't a movie, it was supposed to be an actual series.

I think that's on the way back. They're supposed to appear way after they go to that mining place.

I didnt quite like how they handled episode 11.  They cut out all the fun parts and the big dramatic moment when they find out the bridge was out.
Seriously, wheres Ed chasing Bunny all over town and breaking [parasitic bomb]? And for the love of God, The armwrestler guy only got a cameo? He is supposed to be the guy who Ed crushes his arm with alchemy.
they spent the major focus on the birth, but they could have squeezed all that in there!

So it sounds as if the first series was always stuffing extra things in and stretching stories into 2 episodes, while the second series has to take some things out to fit a chapter into 1 episode.  Maybe if the show were a full 30 minutes without commercials, it would be just right.

Oh, yikes.  I'd almost rather they left in more story and tried to get renewed for another season.

FFFFFFFffff-

They took out the beastman parrt!

I liked that part in the chapter too. I guess the producers thought it'd be a waste of their budget, even though animation quality is clearly somewhat shoddy.

Nonetheless, it doesn't deter from the fact that this is still good to watch. I just had to rage a bit since I really did like Ed and Al fighting that beastman.

Can you explain the "beastman" for us anime-only folks?

And so much for Funimation's "simulcast"...

http://www.onemanga.com/Full_Metal_Alchemist/22/01/

They pretty much cut out half a chapter of content and kinda replaced it with ED getting a revelation after trying to eat Al and eating ants. Yeah... >_>

Anyways, I still really liked this episode anyways, and the Greed vs Ed fight in the preview look [tornado fang]ing awesome.
