Someone on Random Curiosity posted something from 2channel that Endless Eight was scheduled to be 6 episodes and then some stuff happened with angry sponsors and offed scapegoat producers and all...Seriously, what the hell?

Endless Eight was organized to be produced as 6 episodes.
Kadokawa's back sponsor got furious and by the time it was too late, the producer had been fired.
There was huge confusion over whether they were going to skip the produced 4th and 5th episodes and skip to airing the 6th.

By the way, the 6 ep organization was Kadokawa's instructions.
The fired producer was a scape goat to appease the angry back sponsors.
Kadokawa's ultimate goal was to blow smoke over the fans by having 12 episodes that would consist of E8, Sigh, and a new Mikuru's adventure.
And the disappearance images they had pulled from would remain exactly that... (Unsure)
Currently Kadokawa does not feel like animating Disappearance

Seriously, six episodes of Endless Eight? That's just plain stupid. I would have understood if it was three episodes. (First time = First time they go on vacation. Second Time = First time they notice the two weeks being repeated over and over. Third Time = Novels' Endless Eight). But six is too much. New animation doesn't really give them anything new. It's just the same over and over.

The first season was awesome. So far, they've been just ruining Haruhi. Either stop making the anime altogether, or make it right Kadokawa. >_>

At least that is what needs to be done in the novels I am told. Seriously, they could have done that in 2 episodes by fastforwarding the events several times over, and not make it several episodes. Watching Haruhi in various swimsuits and yukatas gets boring after a while.

Remember when I was raging about how the existence of the second season made the DVDs that were already out worthless? Never mind that. With eight episodes that are just the same safe for some arrangements, this series is absolutely not worth being bought on DVD. Seriously, 2 episodes would have been enough for this plot. If each episode contained like some crypic hints that would lead to an overall event or something, then perhaps it might be forgiveable, but in the end it just comes down to the fact that Haruhi wants to help Kyon with his summer homework >__> This seriously has to be the greatest troll in the history of anime.
