Are you like me? Do you ever play a game and think to yourself, "You know what this game needs? Someone or something to heroically and valiantly protect at the very cost of my own life." That's right, Protect Missions. Where would gaming be without them? Nowhere, that's where! Just a sad, non-protective waste of time.
While playing through Macross Ace Frontier, I stop just to wonder where's that Cat's Eye that needs me to get it through the atmosphere while being bombarded by an untold of amount of Missiles. In Force Unleashed, I felt the Good Side of the Force while mindlessly Force Throwing General Kota to actually get him to follow me to my destination. Lord knows how many FPS or 3-D Platformers in general would've been ruined without mindless, moronic, hopeless NPC's to take bullets for. What a pleasure! The same pleasure I get from hearing those cries of "STILL WAITING FOR YOUR SUPPORT" from the hundreds of soldiers waiting for ONLY me to save them in ZOE2. And Slippy...god bless his wart covered hide! When he thanks me for the save, my heart feels a whole lot fuller.
This is why I think whenever they make a Superman game, they should follow the philosophy of just making it one giant joyful protect mission. Having to make sure not to use too much power when landing, or fly through a building, killing innocents. THAT'S the Superman game I want to play!
So, RPM. Feel free to tell us about your fun times with Protect Missions, and how much happiness they've brought you!
