80% complete is still so far off considering how big this game is ending up as, though. 😅

Honestly, I feel it's going to take a couple of more years. It's not in development hell but it's in a situation where they really need to set a limit on the scope so the project can actually get done.

Based on what my Mom has told me, the first game I ever actually consciously played and understood that I was playing was Pacman on Atari. Don't really have memory of that moment, though. 😅

But I do remember that the first game I ever owned was Rescue Rangers on NES. That or Tom & Jerry. Memory is a bit fuzzy on what came first and what my parents handed to me on the store, but the memory of the Rescue Rangers box is a bit more vivid.

Ah, so Rockman PM did have a PSO2 topic already? Guess I don't need to make a new one then. 😅

Also please don't bring up when Western Server is coming, because there're zero news about it within the past 3 years.

Ah, a Mario Kart thread. And last message was during the Wii U era. 😅

So much has happened since then. There's Mario Kart Tour and the whole Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch plus the DLC.

And now the upcoming new Mario Kart for Switch 2 with what seems redesigned character designs that Nintendo is going for based on the classic ones. Super Mario Bros Wonder already did the first step. (To be honest, though, not convinced about the new voices or how Nintendo decided to suddenly swap them)

You should really look into Final Weapon, it's genuinely the best way to play X4 game. I think the only issue is that most people (reasonably) do not turn to the PC versions when modding, as interesting as it would be as a base. It's still weird they exist tbh.

You could make a new thread for it, you know. Helps bringing the forum back alive too. 

Of course this game would have a thread in here. The wait for the release still goes on.

I think the situation of new bot accounts is now under control. I left it overnight with the new bans in place and it seems to be doing well.

A lot of cleaning up has been done too but still quite a bit remains so I am working on that whenever I get chance.

Also, even though there's not much Rockman news nowadays, you can and it's encouraged to use the other general gaming sections too. Vixy has mentioned me before that she would like to cover more than just Rockman.


Some of the things I've seen here while cleaning up haven't really aged well. 😅

Bot situation is definitely under control now, though. The Roleplaying area is pretty much clean now.


The spam caused by one specific bot (xemiroth) is pretty huge. I'll be contacting Vixy in private about it since the account was deleted and the only way to group up all its messages now is through direct access to the database. In the meantime, please ignore those messages or let me know here if there's a specific topic you want cleaned up.

So I guess I'm a mod now. Sorry for suddenly disappearing but things got quite busy on my side after that last message I sent.

But I guess it's time to clean up a few things over here.

Also, for anyone trying to register, I think Vixy now set it so activation is manual. So we'll get to your registration as soon as possible. Just make sure your account details look good and not suspicious and we'll give you the clear.

Actually, it's still through the regular process but I got a report from someone who contacted me through my blog that the server sometimes doesn't seem to be sending the e-mails. Either way, we can activate accounts manually and I'll be keeping an eye on accounts needing activation. Same as before, make sure the account details you write look good and not spam bot like.

Hmm... I see. They do tend to be quite aggressive with the spam when they appear. Probably temporarily disabling registrations could help while the bots and spam is being delt with. I think Vixy tried cleaning up a bit too when she fixed up the theme a few days ago.

I also know that old spam bot accounts don't really log in again so once you reach those accounts, you can try slowly opening up registrations, maybe with additional verification that bots will struggle with.

But honestly, any effort does help a bit. It's just quite a lot of spam atm so it'll take quite a while.

It's pretty cool to see that I've started something, however small. Reading @kevinmahoney95's story made me happy knowing others are out there who miss forums as well. I used to look around places like this when I was younger, but never directly participated for reasons I cannot remember. Maybe we could get something going here if the forums aren't being shut down for good. It's hard to tell with how stripped down things are.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I also miss forums. I don't think this place is going anywhere, though. Vixy has kept it up during all this time, even if it was a bit abandoned. But based on what she's told me, she does want to work on it again. Just that it'll require a lot of time and work.

But well, look at that. She's actually logged in atm and fixing stuff. We got the emojis back now. ^_^ 

Cleaning this place up would require some serious moderation. Bots comment on junk automatically. At first glance, it seems that bots have been having their run of the place for years. How long's it been since this place had frequent active human users?

I think the first thing you'd need is to strictly prohibit anyone from making a post without a registered and email-verified account. Further, I think it's sad but true to say that the entire forum would need to be purged of all its existing content and we'd need to start over. Given the sheer volume of nonsense on here, it would look sketchy to newcomers for it all to remain, and it would make the job of reviving the board even tougher.

Also, it appears that the majority of the emoticons don't even work. There are just a lot of structural problems, but with proper moderation, I think they could be overcome and we could perhaps use existing Mega Man spaces like Facebook groups and Reddit boards to spread the word.

Yeah, it is a lot of spam and bots atm. But it's actually not a lot of work. It's just a bit time consuming.  Basically, you target the bot accounts and delete their account together with all messages. I've had to do that with my forum at one point too. 😅 (Then you also ban and increase security and recount totals to fix the database)

I wouldn't mind help to do it here too if it's needed. Like I said earlier, I also do miss forums.

From what I'm seeing, Vixy recently logged in too. Around 3 days ago. Don't know if she did something, though. I do remember she had updated the forum and then had to switch the theme to a temporary one. The old one she had that matched the rest of the site was not compatible anymore, AFAIK.

But I don't know who swapped the theme again to the default SMF one. I'm gonna guess Vixy is the only who can do that and mods can't, so maybe it was what she did 3 days ago?

Oh! Oh heya - real glad Phi noticed you guys, much more that I got pinged too, haha! Yeah, it's tragic what's been going on with the forum situation here. We were already a pretty small, close-knit community but we'll be more than happy to see some new faces around! I'm Ammy, and I 'technically' run the Discord server, mostly in name since I'm not super active - but yeah, any of you guys blast Phi or myself a DM and we'll happily add you!

Wait... you guys made a Discord server? You know Vixy has her own Discord server too, right? 😅 Only difference is that it's not just Mega Man focused anymore but now it's more general gaming focused. Games and art, to be more exact. A few old members from here are in there, from what I can see.

(Btw, since there's a mod in here, would it be possible to clean up the forum from the bots and their spam, please? They already pushed down a thread I recently did. )

We really need a mod here to take care of all these bots. Any new topic gets drowned too and older topics are pretty hard to get to.

A while ago I decided to give a check on some of my old uploads on my personal blog. That took me to this post where I talked about how I fixed my old copy of Mega Man X5 on PC. I decided to take a look at the PCGaming Wiki link I shared there since I wanted to make sure my instructions still worked. To my surprise, the download I used from there was gone

Of course, since it's a wiki I tried searching through the article's history and apparently the download and patch shared there was killed. I then noticed since when it was gone and possible reasons: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Talk:Mega_Man_X5

So I talked with @ViperAcidZX and she pretty much confirmed me nothing new has happened since then. So I checked my copy of X5 and, yeah, my copy does work even today on Windows 11. And I pretty much remember and based on what I wrote in my article that the only thing the patch did was replace the main executable of the game.

To sum it up, if you have a copy of Mega Man X5 for PC that doesn't work anymore because of DRM, try replacing the main exe with this file:

It's in a 7zip file. As far as I know, that's the only thing the patch did to fix the game not working anymore. (I lost the original zip containing the patch, btw. But as far I recall, it was actually the full game, so it's probably why it got taken down.)
