I'm going to vent here...
It's not that. It's actually the wishy-washy resolve.
"....trying to avoid eviction to explain why I bootlegged it earlier, not that you'd care "
Don't start, because as someone who has been homeless as well as trying to help people out, the last thing you need to do is claim I don't care. You don't know me, so don't pull that. I don't respond well to people with bad attitudes. I'm actually a nice guy.
What people like don't get that not everybody pirates a games not even bother to buy the game in question. If I like the game I download off for free, I'll probably buy it; if not, oh well. At the time I downloaded the game, it had bad responsiveness that made it unbearable to play. I bought it in hopes the issues would be fixed, but the game very trial-and-error and not exactly fun. Also get ready to realize the contradictions later in your statement.
As for the frame rate: I can literally say its a hardware acceleration issue; the game runs smooth on my outdated laptop as well on most other systems.
If that's the case, have you bothered to play test this thing enough times to see if the game falters when there's so much going on screen to the point where it hinders the player's ability to react in certain situations, on something that has no video options whatsoever, much less a fullscreen option, and looks like it came out of Newgrounds? Unlike your many detractors, I maybe probably forgive the artstyle, maybe forgive the uninspired music and mediocre voice-acting, if your game is actually fun, but it is not for me.
As for the story: getting mad at a "parody-like statement at a parody game that somewhat pokes at tropes", that's on you if this makes you mad. It was literally just meant a tongue in cheek statement that seems to be offensive to you. Welcome to the 80s.
I don't mind parodies, but I don't like is laziness. What kind of creativity went on during these last bits by directly quoting Star Wars when many others have done it to death?
I don't expect people to give it certain scores, but on the other hand, seeing how you just act so mixed and back and forth, it's hard to tell if you're for or against. Truth be told. All things considered, it's not perfect, but practically being the only person juggling everything, which people seem to forget that this isn't done by a giant company but rather 2-3 people, it's at least something that's done well despite all backfires.
I hate to break it to you, but I've seen better effort put into game development by
one person. I wanted to give your game the benefit of the doubt, when your game becomes an exercise of trial-and-error on a genre where it should not be that way, I will complain. I also get the feeling you can't take criticism too well considering you've deleted a comment of the Desura for your game when I complained about the frame-rate affecting gameplay. Also, it is my right as
a consumer to provide feedback, scathing or not.
"P.S. If these problems are fixed, maybe I'll change how I feel about this game." - Noble. Hey, do what you need to do.
You don't seem grasp that fixing something broken can go a long way. Also [tornado fang] you too.
