I don't see why they needed to change the headset adaptor.  An audio jack is an audio jack is an audio jack.  I can see using USB as a jack, as that still keeps options open for cheaper headsets, but why the hell did they feel the need to have some exclusive port in which only their headset can fit?

I like my accessories to be multipurpose.  I want to take my headset from my computer, to my cheap MP3 player, to my iPad, to the radio, and back again.  I want my auxiliary speakers to do the same! 

Screw your special port, Microsoft.  I'm sure you have the parts to fit it.
