Okay I need you guys to help me with something because I'm having trouble with this.  I need you guys to go to route 19, find a horde of Gligars, and catch one with Immunity.  Bring a Pokemon with Toxic, if you can't poison one of them catch it and trade it to me when you get the chance.  I will give give you a Totodile for your troubles.

Took Cagliostro through the Free Money Grind Chateau, and attempted to raise Runaway's HP with Purple Juice.  Didn't work, but at least he liked the drink.  Then, I fed and played with the team.

I'm thinking of pairing Runaway's baby off with another Abra, see if I can score some more good IVs.  What nature would you suggest I pair with a Bold Synchronize Abra who hates to lose?

I was explaining the finer points of Pokemon husbandry to my mom.  She seemed to understand it, for the most part, but got stuck on my comment about chain-breeding.

I'm amazed she understood something.  Also husbandry?

Basically breeding.  In general, it's the management and care of animals (Pokemon) by humans, with attention paid to genetics for good qualities and behavior.  Breeding for perfect IVs is Pokemon husbandry.

Ah okay, but as I said before good Natures should take priority over IVs.

Exactly.  I bred Runaway for his Nature and Characteristic, as it covered his deficits, and his offspring has a good Ability to go with it.  Beyond that, I focus on type spreads.

The problem is with an Alakazam his deficits are so bad you shouldn't bother covering them and his Nature is not really good.   My breeder mind is screaming but you can ignore that since you aren't going into competitive play in the first place.

He can hold his own pretty well in casual play, so that's plenty good.  Though, if I were to raise an Alakazam for competitive play, what Nature would be a good one?

Timid with a Max Speed IV is what I would do since I feel Speed is the only stat worth max if you want to max something if it's fast enough.  Give EVs in Speed and Special Defense since his Special Attack is already pretty high and doesn't need too much help.

Actually, the recommended nature is Modest. With 120 base stat speed, he is going to be going faster than most pokemon even if his speed is neutral. Only 30~40 pokemon are faster than him if you don't include priority moves. As a result, think Alakazam as a literal glass cannon. One hit is usually enough to knock him out, so that means Alakazam usually can't set up to raise his stats. Therefore, recommended EV spreed is 252 Sp.A/252 Sd/4 HP. Take as many as you can down before being taken down. If you are are scared of being outsped, Timid works with something like a Life Orb item.

I have quite a few with 5 perfect IVs, which is the threshold I try to reach. It is also fortunate that many of these starters are in the same Egg group (Field) except for the Gen I starters,  Chikorita, Totodile, Treecko, and Turtwig. That said I still have two Cyndaquils with 5 perfect IVs, and I wonder how the Cyndaquil (named PYRE HEART per his request) I traded to PB is doing.

Akamaru, I'm the girl who raises Aerodactyls to max Speed because I want to be able to knock out Jolteons, Speed is always my priority on a Glass Cannon.  Though I do agree that you can forgo Special Defense to buff his already amazing Special Attack.

Ugh, Jolteons. If there is one type of pokemon I am weak to, it is Electric. Three of my teamates can be knocked out due to Electric weakness and two others have weak Sp.D that a Stab Electric attack can knock them out.

I intend to raise my first Eevee as a Jolteon.  PIN MISSILE BITCHES

As for Alakazam, I'm going to see how far I can go with Runaway the underdog and his supposedly hindering Nature.  Underdogs provide me with a challenge, and a victory, no matter how small, is always more fulfilling when it's from an underdog.

Besides, Pyro can attest to how Runaway took out half of his team with an at-the-time shitty moveset. :P
