Most important of all was Miyamoto’s promise that the game is “completely original, and coming this year.”

“The tail you mentioned on the logo – it’s what you think it is,” Miyamoto said. “You probably know what’s going to happen using that character.”

I think nobody had any doubts about the Tanooki/Raccoon suit being in there.

Pretty much, but I am beginning to take an extreme "not true until confirmed" stance with new regarding Nintendo, especially when they're in batshit insane/awesome mode.

Smart Move, Nintendo. Making the depth perception better in 3D, Thats really all that needs to happen, I don't care about [parasitic bomb] popping out at me, I'd just like to see where the hell I'm jumping.

Anyway, once this comes out (I'll probably have a 3DS by then) Day 1 insta-buy. Its a Mario game, afterall, very few of those are bad.

Okay, that's just a vision I had, but eh. This is still pretty sweet.

(but technically Galaxy 2 was a mix of Galaxy and 64, whatwith the Throwback Galaxy and all)

Pardon the bump, but I figure this beats talking about Super Mario 3D Land in the general 3DS thread.

Anyways, new stuff that's been going on:
-Game releases Nov. 3 in Japan, Nov. 13 in the U.S.
-Mario can now stuff his head into the propeller blocks from NSMBWii (

)
-Bowser has the tanooki/raccoon tail.
-Gamestop has a Tanooki Mario keychain pre-order bonus.
-The game uses some manner of Spot Pass.
-P-Wings are back.

Some speculate that P-Wings are the new Super Guide, but I haven't known Nintendo to advertise Super Guides in their box art before.

I meant about the confirmation of the tanooki suit. It's been 90% certain since the showing of the logo last year, and 100% since the images. This doesn't add anything, really.

No, it certainly was not.

It's not the Hammer Suit, but it's still pretty badass. Mario using Boomerangs has previously only been possible on a limited scale, involving either Yoshi's tongue or e-Reader cards.

The "spoilers" aren't all that surprising to anyone who knows Mario's track record. Veterans of Mario's Wii platformers (2D or 3D) know what to expect.
