Oh neat, you have White Knight Chronicles.  Can you tell me how that game is?  I've been very curious about it since I saw it.

N-No idea, I have way too many RPGs and they take so long to get through so I haven't even been able to touch most of them yet ^^;

So are you suggesting that all those pro Starcraft players aren't hardcore because they don't own one of each generation's consoles?

Because I mean when it comes to hardcore gaming that's what I think of. [parasitic bomb]'s pretty hardcore. About as hardcore as it gets.

IIRC, I think only the first SNES one and the N64 one was brought over to America. The first one on the Famicom is called Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchuu

As for unofficial translations...err, I don't recall seeing any.

Anyway, to get back on topic: To be honest, I think your definition of hardcore is a bit extreme. I agree with the 6 hours a day thing, but owning most every kind of system? Not only that but 20 games for each system you own? But whatever.

I guess I'm softcore by your standards. I'm pretty sure I play atleast 3 hours a day in combined time, assuming I actually have time to do it. I own atleast one system starting from the second generation, and I'm sure I've had atleast 20 games for almost each system.

Hmm... Good point. I guess I may need to alter my qualifications a bit.

Yeah, when those guys in Korea who play in televised Starcraft tournaments don't count as hardcore, something wierd is going on.

I suppose Im Softcore, Though I DEFINITELY play more than 84 hours a month.

Softcore perhaps? Thought I haven´t played any next game game and don´t own a next gen console... I play everyday for at least 1 -2 hours. I owned above 20 NES cartridges, some of them contained  more than 10 games...But my console is broken.  I mostly play PC and Emulated games and sometimes PS2 games

I honestly don't know.  I just like games.  I definitely am nowhere near hardcore, not even softcore, but i'm not casual either so...*shrugs*

Let's see...

Nes Stopped working a long time ago - had at least 9 games
SNES - 13 games
Sold my Sega Genesis - only had 5 games
N64 - 20 games
PS1 which is now my cousin's - 11 games (Except Megaman X 4-6, keeping those -_-)
PS2 - 72 including some imports
Gamecube - 4 games
Used to own a Gameboy Pocket but I still have the original gameboy games -  5 games
Gameboy Color - 5 games
Gameboy Advance and SP (SP erased data for some stupid reason) - 15 games
PSP - 9 games
DS Lite - 8 games
Xbox 360 - at least own around 22 maybe more (Including some downloads)

And I pretty much play my games on a daily basis and even lose sleep while doing so sometimes, but that depends on how much I'm into the game... Which are mostly fighters/rpgs/action adventure.

So probably hardcore...

I dunno, I have a lot of games (Mostly of the great variety). So I'd say.... Borderline between Hardcore/Softcore.

I think the whole hardcore-casual thing has a lot more to do with how much you care about your hobby than anything. I've been gaming since 1990, and it's my main hobby, but I can't afford 20 games per system, and I don't have time to play for 200+ hours a week.

True enough.  I just resent the "Hardcore" label these days because IGN taught me that it applies to people who care more about polygon counts and orchestrated soundtracks than actual gameplay.  They insist that NSMBWii is not a hardcore title, merely that it miraculously attracted more Nintendo fanboys than Galaxy did in order to sell better (which make no sense when you figure Galaxy should be attracting both fanboys and the hardcore that NSMBWii allegedly shafted).
