Anyway does anyone have any tips on winning the bug catching contest because no matter what kind of pokemon I catch I lose.

I don't know, I've won that thing with a level 13 Pinsir, and a level 18 Weedle.
I have no idea how it determines if you're the best catch, I just luck out.

But I've gotten nothing but Sun Stones when I need a god damn Water Stone.

Well, just looked up on Bulbapedia, and it seems HG/SS have gone from just Sun Stones to any random evolution stone, as first prize.
I can't confirm that for myself though, as I've just been getting Sun Stones the only two times I've succeeded.

I dunno if, for legendaries, I should go with naming them after what they're based on (which would mean, if the end, I'd have 4 Golems) or if I should just go with my name by type theme.

Even though I don't often do the nickname thing, I don't see the point of nicknaming most legendaries, since most (not all) of them are allegedly one of a kind according to the story.

Then again, I do constantly fight the urge to give my Dialga the nickname Titanus.

Hey would anyone be willing to trade me a pokemon holding a fire stone, I need it for my Vulpix and since I won't get my DSi until next Sunday I'm a bit stuck.

I'm not sure when I'll next be online since Mrs. Shell expects me to be painting most of the day Sunday.  But I'll gladly trade you one off of my Diamond cart.

Also with bug catching, if you weaken that pokemon too low it'll subtract from your points, the collective stats + remaining health = total points.
Among some other things, that's why just catching level 14 Scyther can't help ya, if you weakened 'em to a near fraction of their health.

That really, REALLY bites.  The more powerful Pokemon have such a low capture rate that you're probably better off barely scratching the Level 18 Weedles and what-have-you and capturing them.

I caught the level 18 weedle without denting it and won with over 300 points, so yeah, if you're just planning on winning, better off trying your luck at the "no dent" method on a Weedle/Caterpie.

Dude I hate it too, I always lose to my friends rabid Eevees!  Now he's trying to raise some different pokemon and 2 of them are ones I would raise and one I was thinking of raising.

I'm sure even the Metapod/Kakuna will give off good points for winning if you can catch 'em with no dent, or minor dents.
But the Pinsir/Scyther are difficult to catch without landing blows on them. I think if you left 'em with at least half their health, it'd be at least okay points.
But that's trial and error more than likely.

You know, it occurred to me that if you have the event Arceus, you need only reach the Ruins of Alph to get your legendary dragon.  So, off I go for my Origin Giratina.

Arceus's creation of a legendary "egg" is pretty weird.  A swarm of Unown, a weird circle pattern, funky "ancient tribe" sounding drum beat, and a bunch of IRL pictures showing everything from space to cities to microscopic life.

Actually I read on Serebii that if you have both the movie Arceus and your regular Arceus you could do it twice.
