Seems I have an idea on how to survive Don't Starve's Winter logic, yet I feel like the Winter clothing (that you can afford without the shadow manipulator) are utterly useless. Took me a while to understand how the heat stone works.

All I've been doing is gather food, grass and fire fuel; retreat to a fire pit to cook and heat up, whenever it got frosty; sleep by nightfall and eat in the morning; rinse 'n repeat. Did this enough times, and Winter started going away. Although, I've made it custom so that Winter was short, to begin with.

You want a challenge for surviving winter? Play Dwarf Fortress with your fortress in a really crummy area and try to gather up enough food to survive the winter months.  Oh, and you have very limited clean water and need to dig a well.  Meanwhile, elven caravans are few and far between.

Also you have no idea just how many articles I sifted through to get the best coverage of this, not to mention this one actually had the third video that I didn't see until this one.

The only thing it didn't mention was that the ball is specifically used in a sport and the glove is used to protect the hand from injury from said sport, which is also particularly handy from protecting this [dark hold]'s hand from glass shrapnel.

I might give that try sometime, I maybe.

Then again, I might look up a video to see if it's even possible to do a Winter only, long play of Don't Starve.

Even in a good area with plentiful food and water, that first winter is the hardest.  If your fortress can survive the first winter, you've got a good chance. 

My last fortress survived and actually prospered for several seasons!  And then we had a werebeast outbreak that slaughtered 3/4ths of the population and the beasts were only dealt with when they were trapped in part of the fortress, which was collapsed.  While considering whether or not to rebuild, a vampire started killing off the children, so the fortress was abandoned to ruin.

Oh, and all the trouble started when the former mayor stepped down and a dwarf named after you became mayor. :B
