Welcome back, Mega Man. It's been too long.
Also I missed the stream, what info was there about that Mega Man X collection?

The Great Gonzo

"Some characters from previous installments will also be making a comeback."

Roll was kind of a given, so I have to wonder who else might be showing up. 'twould be great if XOver!Kalinka could appear in a mainline title.

Sakura Leic

It's gonna be Megaman X1-X8 on all Modern Platforms.

On top of that Megaman Legacy Collection 1 and 2 are finally coming to Switch with Amiibo support.

I like this guy.

the art director also, I really like the way he thought everything through in regards to the presentation of the game, being that it's 2.5D and it is real easy to mess up 2.5D

In general, I am very hype. My hype cannot be expressed in words.

Also, here's a higher res version of that game Informer cover

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Oh [parasitic bomb]

My name was probably different the last time you were here, but welcome back, Lou!

Ninja Lou

Don't be surprised if PB shows up later too.

Yeah wouldn't be surprised.  How is he anyway, he told me he was moving.

The game graphics look alright, but it's not 8-bit. Also, this will probably be the first NEW Mega Man game without Comcept's Keiji Inafune.

The new model changes when acquiring new weapons is kinda neat, but It's not the same tradition of color change only. Even the classic Mega Man X had color change only (besides armor upgrades) of its time.

I don't know how I feel about this.

Nexus

To me it's a mix of 30FPS footage and Mega's walking animation. The game's got some cel-shading going on for sure, here's hoping the music lives up to the pedigree too.

Here's hoping it doesn't play as bad as Megaman X 7.

So far, I'm digging the new look. And I'm also glad they're bringing back Megaman's charge shot and slide.

Fear me.

We can't stay retro forever. the series needs to go forward. Even 10 got some pushback from people who felt Capcom was trying to milk the retro nostalgia. And after 7 years, Another 8 bit title would have been a cop out.

Honestly that's not actually something new. We've had Megaman games without him before, and he was producer for many of them. Director is where the real magic happens.

They are going for the original original concept stuff back in the day. Kitamura wanted, iirc, the exclamation mark on the helmet to change to reflect what weapon Mega Man was using. They trashed the idea because obviously the NES wouldn't have been able to really portray that effectively. And so they instead settled on color changing.

Seems like an idea that Capcom may have been toying with for years actually. In hindsight, you've got Inafune making MN9, which is a Mega Man where his entire appearance changes, but I still remember the concept art from Command Mission, that featured a very X looking Classic Mega Man, with a shoulder mounted cannon, and a camo paint job, implying a similar idea of color+design feature.

As for what they've gone with now, the only things that change are his helmet and his buster. Which is a nice compromise. That way it isn't anything too drastic, but it is something fresh and original as a gimmick

That's good to hear, guess I'll talk to him later tonight to get an update since he's been gone for a few months.

Anyway I'm glad they aren't rehashing Megaman 2 nostalgia again.

As I said before on the Discord, I have less than zero interest in more classic shilling. If anything, ironically, I care more about the X collection.

But at least it's nice that Capcom's actually acknowledging its flagship IP for once, y'know, ever.

Nexus

My biggest beef back then was the fact that they went for a low-hanging fruit and stripped down the gameplay to the basics, not that 9 and 10 were bad. The return of the Charge and Slide combined with the new super gear mode indicates to me that alongside the visual presentation, they're wanting to expand and build on what came before this go around. From another perspective, this is also finally the first true HD Mega Man game, and the 4th wholly 2.5D title (or 2nd, if you discount the remakes).

Just wonder what took them seven years to get around to it.

And visually so far it seems pretty solid. Easy to look at. Though a little too cluttered sometimes, like in that last miniboss they showed.

I really dig what Mega Man 11 looks like. Can't wait for next year. Also super excited about the X series rerelease. Hope that means an X9 in the future.

What happens in Vegas stays on Youtube. I also stream on Twitch from time to time.

I agree about the graphics as it seems like they were trying too hard to be Mega Man 2 ignoring the gameplay changes of previous games.

Honestly I think it does.

Though It might hinge on 11's reception upon release.
