I've always scoffed at the idea that the SNES Classic was gonna come out this year, but it's apparently true.

In edition the US version marks the debut of the long lost Star Fox 2!  It also comes with the SNES version of Yoshi's Island and Classic Star Fox which have never gotten VC releases.

Contra III: The Alien Wars
Donkey Kong Country
EarthBound
Final Fantasy III
F-ZERO
Kirby Super Star

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Mega Man X
Secret of Mana
Star Fox
Star Fox 2
Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Super Castlevania IV
Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts

It also comes with 2 SNES controllers, however unlike it's predecessor it'll set you back $80.

Either way I'm preordering this thing whenever I'm able to, I cannot miss this one.

I want to get this but if the NES Classic is any indication, that won't be happening. I just hope they release StarFox 2 in other ways as well.

Yeah me too, Reggie did say they're gonna produce significantly more than the NES Classic, but it's only gonna run for the rest of 2017.

An impressive list, but I already have/own the majority of those games. Well, except for Star Fox 2, which I really want XD

Done this morning.
Super Mario RPG finally makes its PAL debut in a physical capacity, which I'm getting it for. Link to the Past, Super Metroid among a few others are just icing on the cake.

I guess all I can really say is it isn't exactly what I'd expect out of a $4.4M game

It doesn't even have mouth animations

Even if it's 20 bucks more I would say it's a much better value.  I mean, those are some meaty games, they'll keep you busy.  Plus the whole second-controller-in-the-box thing.

But yeah, I'd just as soon have those on a Switch Virtual Console.  My TV is out of HDMI ports, and my 2-year-old will not be kind to those controller cords.

As for supply, well, they can't very well do WORSE than the NES Classic, now can they?  This will probably still be hard to find but just less abysmally so.

I mean... in concept, it's cool they're doing this. But I can't help but ask "why" in this day and age. Virtual Console handles this kind of thing just fine... and even more realistically, people can and do just use other methods to play these games.

It's interesting... the way that people seem to be drawn to the classics.

You might say that...

Old games never die!

*snickers* Ya'll are gonna hate me in short order.

It's to bring in people who fell off the wagon. People who don't buy game consoles anymore and wouldn't have a 3DS or a Wiiu. The old gamers who slipped out of gaming. And maybe it'll bring them back in to buy a new Nintendo console. It's a nostalgia sampler platter.

This time they double dipped and offered something that not even the hardest core fans would have, an unreleased game. It worked, cause I got one lol.

Virtual Console dies with the online presence of the console, too. In fact, Wii is EOL within a few days. So at least I have a physical item that won't go away.

Oh right the Wii Shop is finally dying.
I guess it makes sense since the rest of the system is already offline and now that the Wii U's officially over (Other than Ubisoft being dumb and releasing the newest Just Dance on it and the original Wii, I don't think any more games are coming out for it.) they really have no reason to keep it up for people who might just want to randomly buy a Neo Geo game or some Fireplace simulators.

This also means that any decent Wiiware is also soon to be impossible to get through legal means. Maybe they'll make a return whenever nintendo makes a Wii Classic Edition. But that won't happen till 2023 at the earliest most likely.

Provided you dump your system NAND, there's always a certain aquatic mammal that is pretty much almost the real thing now, store wise *nudge*

True, but that's not going to replicate buying [parasitic bomb] off the store (Which you could do, for some insane reason.) and I know there's always people who prefer playing on actual hardware since emulation is never perfect. Even though it has gotten considerably better.
