The NES will cost $60 and will contain 30 games, comes with a NES Controller that can connect to Wii Motes as well being able to use the Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro with it, and be able to use suspend points in games.  Unfortunately I don't think it can play old NES carts.  Also no Dragon Quest games but there is Final Fantasy and the only Megaman game is of course Megaman 2.

Solid list of games, though naturally no Contra just Super C, MM2 cuz hurr durr, Castlevania 3 getting ignored is strange, same with jumping straight to Double Dragon 2.

Tecmo Bowl just strikes me as odd though.

I kinda want the console but i'll totally settle for controllers because of the Wii/Wii U compatibility for VC games.

Sakura Leic

They'll be $10 each.  Also honestly the Japanese version of Castlevania 3 is superior anyway.

Well yeah I know, but they're never gonna drop that stateside.

Now if only they made a Japanese version. I'd totally drop $80 on a mini Famicom and controller set.

Protoman Blues

That is actually pretty awesome and I want one!

I just find it amusing that Nintendo is getting into the imitation Retro Consoles market. XD

Is it bad that i'm stoked to see when people will mod it so we can play roms on it?  8) (especially the translated ones like Megami Tensei, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy 3, etc etc.)

Sakura Leic

I totally would like to see what the Modding community could do with this thing, hopefully it's not too difficult to crack.

Hypershell

That would be cool (Dragon Warrior and Godzilla: Monster of Monsters are two of my favorite games that I'm pretty sure we're not seeing officially supported anytime soon), but I'd imagine it would require some manner of hardware mod since it is not built to use any connectivity or expansions outside of the controller and power supply.

Well, I'll be all over the controller; matching its connector to the Wii Classic was a stroke of brilliance.  But I'm not dropping $60 when my Wii U Virtual Console works just as well and comes with Miiverse support.  Can't even call it my go-to Mega Man box if it doesn't have MM3.

Yeah unfortunately the majority NES era of games don't interest me that much so it wouldn't be worth it for me either.  My older brother would enjoy it a lot more however.  If this was a SNES machine I would probably be more interested since there's a wider pool of games that I would be more interested in.

I kinda feel the same way. I mean it's not bad as a plug-and-play system since I had one before by Jakks Pacific that had a couple of old Atari 2600 games built-in into the joystick, but the line-up with this mini NES doesn't have a whole lot that interest me to invest $60 on it. Gotta agree with Hypershell, though, allowing the ability to hook up the NES controller to a Wii Remote (if you don't already have one) is simply awesome and worth getting for an authentic NES experience on the big screen with Wii/Wii U Virtual Console.

Sakura Leic

At least you can buy those controllers separately for $10 each.

Apparently the allocation for separate controllers already sold out worldwide

I guess all I can really say is it isn't exactly what I'd expect out of a $4.4M game

It doesn't even have mouth animations

Sakura Leic

Unfortunately I can't find an article about the controllers but the first shipment of the console is sold out.

It was the store I ordered the console at, that got a memo from Nintendo about no more controller allocation, since they've finalised production or something.

Can't help but be reminded of the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Classics Hub Sega released for Steam. Sega really should fix that emulator (though are nice enough let legitimate customers use the official ROMs of purchased games with better emulators) and stomp out the pirates abusing the workshop system into another ROM sharing site.

I just had another look around and I still can't find information on how much current the USB on the Mini NES needs... Haha

Would be nice to know, so I know if I can spare a charger for it

Short version of these hands-on video is that the NES Mini has better NES emulation than Wii U Virtual Console versions with better contrast and brightness, clear audio, and sharper video quality with 3 video options to chose from (8:7 "Pixel Perfect" aspect-ratio, 4:3 aspect-ratio, and CRT effect). It also supports up to 4 suspended save slots for each game by using the Reset button. There is multiple language support but it's only for the UI of the menus within the NES Mini. There's also a QR Code that gives of the games manuals bundled with NES Mini.

Hypershell

The downside is that, controller cords being what they are, you have to keep the system within 3 feet of where you're sitting.

Yeah....I'm still hoping to grab a controller, plug it into my Wii remote, and leave it at that.  It doesn't matter how much shinier the colors look, an NES box with no hope of launching Mega Man 3 is not an NES box I'm willing to pay 60 bucks for.  And I don't even want to count how many versions of the Super Mario Bros. games I already have.

I wish Super Mario All-Stars was on the Virtual Console on any system, but it would make the NES versions pointless. :\

Well, the Wii disc is easy enough to come by these days (it was added to Player's Choice Nintendo Selects).  Just blows that it doesn't include World.

I....honestly forgot that existed....I wonder if my brother has a copy.....

Wasn't it limited edition? Because I swear it was when I bought it.
