Because I want to make Let's Plays, as a hobby mind you, and it seems to be a good system to do that. Why do you have a better, cheaper, non Dell option besides build it myself which I know nothing about? Or some opinion about why it sucks that would help me make a better informed decision?
Seriously I would like to hear some input on this since I'm a little iffy on Dell myself but have heard good things about Alienware. I also don't like how I have to get my own keyboard and mouse separately.
Alienwares as a whole are overpriced and underpowered. In ALL situation's I'd recommend building a computer (it's really not that hard) but if you'd rather someone do it for you, CyberPowerPC is better price vs performance. (Although it's still massively overinflated.)
I'm not joking. Get the parts together on pcpartpicker and do it yourself. Watch YT tutorials on how to do it. It literally, LITERALLY saves you a good 300-500 dollars.
actually i'm gonna put it together why you shouldn't do alienware here
The lowest-tier
X51 R3 has a Core i3 processor (which they don't define exactly which i3 model it is, but if it's any decent i'll be an i3-4160), 8GB of RAM, and a GTX 745 (which for all intents and purposes is a SHITTY GPU, especially for let's playing because using recording software WILL tank your framerate).
It costs 700 dollars.
Now, for 700 dollars you could build this.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2qdmt6Which, for all intents and purposes, absolutely shits all over the X51.
Also, Alienware IS Dell. Whatever qualms you have with them you will have with Alienware.
But ultimately it's your money. Your choice.
EDIT: Actually looking back, that build is on the same plane as the 1250 dollar build, power-wise.
