To anyone that has started, how long into the game before I can trade with myself?

Well, I managed to find the answer on Serebii's forum.

It's in Iki Town after you win the Festival by beating Hau that has a Pichu and the starter weak to ours. Basically the E3 Nintendo Treehouse demo. Kukui will give the RotomDex, and that's when you get Festival Plaza for all my self-trade needs. After that, is the first trial.

According to Serebii, that's within the first hour or so.

A new Japanese trailer is shown, revealing the 2 Ultra Beasts that were in the latest CoroCoro scans.

Origami is UB04 Slash, and bamboo is UB04 Blaster.
Based on the vid, Slash looks to be Sun-exclusive, and Blaster is Moon-exclusive.

I don't get my games until next week. The anticipation is getting to me. I spoiled myself on how the new Pokemon evolve. Thankfully they're all pretty standard methods. No Sylveon type stuff or anything.

So, just to be sure, you still have to knock out the Bagon before you can catch that Salamence right?

[Reaperoid]

Yea, as long as the Salamence itself doesn't call, which it did...

There's another cool encounter, too, with Eevee calling the appropriate day/night evolution. The Umbreon got knocked out, but after that, I looked on Serebii, a lot of the good ones are 5% or less, so I might just be lucky.

I guess this SOS Battle feature is to help players fill up the PokeDex more easily, without the grinding some will need.

It also helps with EV grinding and shiny hunting.

From what I'm reading, it's the new chain method, as well. If you keep the same species being called, they will eventually have higher IVs or have the HA

There's also some Pokemon that only appear in an SOS battle wild. I think Salamence is one, but I got Clefairy and Chansey via that too.

Yeah there is, and there's even ones that only show up in specific weather conditions.

Well, it may be a safe bet to assume the male player character is called 'Sun', since that's what he's called in the special demo.

Well, Brendan was named Orlando in the ORAS demo, so I'm doubtful. Though I can use it for my plans later...
