Since nobody mentioned this sooner, I may as well fill you all in. Indivisible is a brand-new Action RPG game from Lab Zero Games, the same team responsible for Skullgirls, that was announced about a week ago. The game focuses on a girl named Ajna (AHZH-na) who sets out to journey across the world in search for the answers about her mysterious powers. Along the way she'll meet other heroes, fight monsters, and gain abilities during her travels. According to the Lab Zero Games and the announcement trailer, the game is inspired by the likes of Super Metroid and Valkyrie Profile (Muramasa, anybody?), and the story takes inspiration from south-eastern Asian mythologies along with some others. The game of course will feature the developers' trademark hand-drawn artstyle while the music is being composed by Hiroki Kikuta of Secret of Mana fame. Other than that, Lab Zero Games is aiming to crowd-fund the game sometime in September, with a playable prototype being release around that time, with Skullgirls backers getting a first taste of the game.

OBJECTION MAN

So it is a platformer? When I hear Action RPG I think Mana series. Either way ti looks neat (albeit no gameplay) and sound great. I'm really looking forward to finding out whatever this ends up being.

Someone on their twitter ask a question like that and they responded by giving the person a rough idea of Indivisible's exploration (and battle system) will like with a gameplay video of Valkyrie Profile for the PS1.

OBJECTION MAN

Turn based is not "action" RPG, no matter how your overworld is explored, in my opinion. If that's what it is, then I guess you can count me out.

If the battle system is similar to that, it could be interesting. The exploration looks boring, though that could be because of the dull pre-rendered backgrounds in that particular video.

I'll keep an eye out for this game. And I hope the attacks are faster paced than Valkyrie Profile.

We haven't even seen any gameplay of Indivisible and already you're putting it down? I can understand where you're coming from, but what if they do put together something to show off the gameplay and it ends up being something along the lines of Odin Sphere or Dust: An Elysian Tail?

OBJECTION MAN

Then it wouldn't be turn based, and then I would be interested in it again.

This is all based on the presumption that it plays like Valkyrie Profile, which is a turn based game. I don't like those, so I wouldn't be interested in it then.

An early footage of gameplay for Indivisible just came out, it's definitely alluding to Valkyrie Profile but the combat seems more faster paced.

So turn based confirmed. Oh well, I'll await their next game after this.

the Indiegogo for it is live. They are going for fixed payment (the kickstarter way) so they'll only get the dosh if they are funded.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

It looked like a great start to a Metroidvania. Then the turn based battles showed up...

I would like to see Lab Zero's take on a Metroidvania, but I am happy with this since turn based RPGs are my favorite genre.

Tried the prototype just now, and what they're presenting with it is very promising. Although combat system is turn-based, it feels more in line to the Active Time Battle system from some of the earlier Final Fantasy games where battle flows in a timely manner, and you have more much direct participation in battle much like Valkyrie Profile. Also like Valkyrie Profile, your characters have different attacks they can pull of and experimenting how to use them effectively is a big part of combat system. What I also like is how battles take place in the same area you're in instead of the usual wrapping the characters to some zone where the battle can take place. I also saw a bit of Earthbound in this game too where if you're running into an enemy that you can easily defeat in battle, instead of going into the game's battle mode and fight them that way, you can fight the enemy in the exploration mode to save yourself some time and continue exploring the area. Using an axe to climb walls is very fun stuff.

Sakura Leic

somecallmejohnny played the demo today on his Indie Spotlight and he seemed to like it.

EDIT: Also jump scare warning at around the 26 mins mark or when he falls down the huge ass hole with the Shiva statue thing.

So the indiegogo updates have introduced new characters as expected, and 2 days ago they introduced Yan the Ballet Dancer.....who has no arms.  I know it shouldn't sound so strange coming from Lab Zero, especially since Tungar's turban is a freaking sword, but Yan made me do a quadruple take.

Five days left in the campaign, and only 52% of the funding goal has met. I'm really worried.

Sakura Leic

Well the campaign now has a 20 day expansion and are close to getting $940,000.

Sakura Leic

Yeah and since there's 3 days left it may be possible to get those 2 strech goals or at the very least the first one.

Protoman Blues

Yeah. Very happy this was funded. I liked the demo a lot.

ViperAcidZX

If we're lucky we should be able to hit at least the first stretch goal by tomorrow. Very relived this game was funded.
