Meanwhile, atop one of the trees in the forest...
*munch* *munch* *munch*
A
young girl, no older than 12 years-old, in strange nomadic clothing and a knitted hat was idly munching on a purple fruit, growing from one of the branches she was sitting on. A long silver staff, adorned with green gems, lay across her lap.
"Mmmmm mmmmm! Salem, this is sooo tasty, I wish you could try some!" The girl's face was filled with bliss, as she lovingly savored each bite from the purple fruit.
The green gems on the silver staff glowed faintly, and a male voice echoed out from it, "Such means of indulgence is lost on me, I'm afraid. I'll take your word for it, though."
"Yeah... It's a shame. Well, we can still have all sorts of fun, anyway!" She chirped happily.
"Indeed, we can. Be careful though, we shouldn't get too sidetracked. Don't forget why we're here, Pema."
"Yeeeah, yeeeeah," Pema pouted and stuck her tongue out at him, when suddenly she saw a flash of light in the distance.
Her staff, Salem, hovered from her lap and moved towards the commotion, "Did you see that just now? What in the world was that?"
"I don't know, but let's find out!" Pema tossed the half-eaten fruit aside and grabbed Salem, jumping from branch to branch, hovering thanks to the staff's flying ability, "Onward to adventurrrrrre!! And more tasty food!"
She steadily arrived to their location and leaped down to the floor.
"HELLOOOOO!" Pema yelled out to them, unaware that they were in a battle.
"P-Pema, now's not the time for that!" Salem shouted as the gems on the staff glowed brighter.
