Quote$1,200,000: Two More Stages

Our initial goal sets the table with six main stages and bosses, plus a final stage leading to the ultimate showdown—but now we can invite Mighty Nos. 7 and 8 to the party, each complete with their own, unique stage!

STRETCH GOAL 1... REACHED!!!!

2 mighty numbers get!

I'm surprised momentum is still going super strong. I was expecting the slowdown to be much sooner.

So the next goal is going to be $1,350,000, probably get that by tomorrow if the pace keeps up.

With Inticreates involved, it's bound to be the usual trifecta of elemental weaknesses.

Commander Shepard: *stares blankly at a video of scantily clad asari dancers* ...What kind of hotel is this?
Liara T'Soni: It is a luxury resort with an... exotic edge. Azure is slang for a part of the asari body in some places on Illium.
Shepard: Where?
Liara: The lower reaches, near the bottom.
Shepard: I meant, "where on the asari body?"
Liara: So did I.

Fun story: I took a bit of time away from the internet (We're talking a few months here) and when i come back, i come back to Mighty No.9 being a thing and it's funded to 400k.

HELL YEAH I BACKED THAT [parasitic bomb]. I've never felt anything (that i'd seen anyway) was ever worth backing on Kickstarter so this was my first. I see potential here :3 It being a thing and reaching the inital goal cheered me up some :D

thefallenalchemist

I'm gonna donate twenty. Times are rough and I'm lucky to have the hours I get. But if I can donate enough to get a digital copy, it'll be worth it. I'm still not sure if the game will even run on my laptop. Too bad he didn't announce it during Christmas, or I would have a hell of a lot more pay. :(

Won't make any money with reviews/interviews until next year and books haven't been published yet. So dayjob = funds.

Came along with this update

It's heartwarming to see him so happy, laughing and smiling. Him and his crew are overjoyed that they made it.

it's a nice contrast to how serious and tired he looked lately at Capcom.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Capcom pursuing legal action against Mighty No. 9 is most likely not going to happen, as some people fear. Why? Because it's a total lose-lose situation for Capcom, on many levels.

If they were to lose the case, Capcom would become an utter joke in the industry. Their already bad reputation becomes a lot worse, especially given the fact that they had the intent to shut down Mighty No. 9.

If they win, people are going to hate (and I mean, reeeeally hate) Capcom for shutting down the project. Meaning: actual boycotts, extremely negative press, severe strain on having to maintain PR (forums, interviews, etc.), etc.

It's in Capcom's best interest to stay quiet, or reveal a legitimate attempt at bringing back Mega Man. Mighty No. 9 is generating [a lot of] interest for Mega Man, which either means said project is no longer as risky (they have the KS to look at numbers), or their merchandising goes up anyways. Besides, Inafune/the team has been clear that this isn't a vendetta against Capcom, simply to prove them wrong (them being the "top men").

Also, There's no legal standing for legal action. Inafune is not infringing anything. You can't copyright a gameplay style. Also, we know little about how it playes outside of it being similar to Mega Man but with a twist.

Why should Windows users get to hog all the fun? Now we can offer Mighty No. 9 on both Mac and Linux as well!

Agreed, Capcom would most likely lose the case if they ever attempted it. Someone in the comments pointed out a really old but similar case where Capcom lost. I'd imagine the argument protecting Mighty No. 9 would be the same. I simply pointed out my reasoning to show that, whether Capcom had a legitimate case against it or not, they would have no reason to pursue it, eliminating the possibility of legal action ever taking place anyways.

That being said, the idea of transformations, while kiiinda done with Axl and Model A in the past, reminds me more of Kirby, Wario Land, and Mario in terms of variety and utility. When the transformations are center-stage of all the concepts, then you know the game is actually going to be developed around that concept, as opposed to hastily pasting it in or making it feel forced (how many people actually used Queenbee or Condorock over Model H?).

Not to mention that we live in a post-Gameloft world, now. It's getting to the point where it would just be a colossal waste of money to fight every single case that a "dubiously similar product" arrives on the market. And Capcom, as their recent IRs would showcase, don't really have that kind of bank to be doing such a thing anyway.

Besides, with games like Shinji Mikami's "The Evil Within" and Vanillaware's "Dragon's Crown" either already on the market (or soon will be), it's not as if Mighty No. 9 would be doing anything truly outstanding in this area.

If Capcom really wanted to "combat" this in some way, they should be getting on the stick with getting a new Rockman game made. Call up Inticreates, as I'm sure they would love to have all the work they can get. The clock's running out on Rock's 25th anniversary, and Capcom STILL ain't delivered in the least~! SMMFH~ 8D

Year of Luigi makes Mega Man and Metroid's 25th look like an utter joke. >_>
