...Though not at all like its source.

I weep.

Here's the video.

I think we just got done with how irritated we are with 8-bit fangames.

Phi

You should put "8-bit" in the title. I got excited for no reason.

Though disappointing that they decided to make this 2-D, it still looks really good. Will definitely buy it.

I thought so too, but...nope I guess not yet.

It's easy to do.  Their budget is minimal and what donations they're getting are probably going to pay the "official" artist/composer they have working on it.  From that standpoint, I respect it, and welcome it.
(Also I don't mind 8-bit games as much when they're not dry-humping Mega Man 2.)

I think some people are afraid that a 3D remake would discourage Capcom from releasing the genuine article.

Police Girl

So these people released a demo.
You need to set your system locale to Japanese to play it though.

Apparently they're gonna have the full thing out by august.
Oh and if you donate $50 they'll give you a physical copy of it. that's pretty [tornado fang]ing steep for an overglorified fangame based off of a DEMO.

Hypershell

Not to hinder your ability to pick the cloud out of the silver lining, but it's called a "donation" for a reason.  Excessive spending on gratuity gifts is how crowd-funded projects get into trouble.

Not gonna happen.
Probably not, but it should.

Frozen Potato

50$ for just a physical copy of an 8-bit game is too much I think. Then again I'm not a collector or not really much of a nostalgia type person so I wouldn't really understand. :<

Police Girl

The thing is, all I see is another 8-bit megaman game, but this time it's wearing the skin of legends 3 and adding a few special moves.

Its still nothing. And what would be good about a boxed copy of a game that is freely downloadable? There's no reason for anybody to donate outside of "Motivating" the development team or person. I'm all for crowdfunding if the idea interests me (Hell I spent $50 on that game that's an homage to N64 Collect-a-thons that looks really fun if only because the boxed copy was really nice.) but this? Maybe if the crowdfunding was for either getting the REAL prototype to people or for getting Legends 3 to see the light of day (Ha!) Then I would gladly toss $40 their way, but not for another [tornado fang]ing 8-bit fangame.

do.na.tion
noun
1. an act or instance of presenting something as a gift, grant, or contribution.
2. a gift, as to a fund; contribution

Please stop asking why a physical box is worth $50.  It isn't.  Nobody ever said that it is.  The box is a thank-you, not a purchase.

QuoteThere's no reason for anybody to "Donate" outside of "Motivating" the development team or person.
I'm not sure what the "point" of your "quotes" is, because the "statement" is every bit as "true" without them.

I'm not paying $50 for a box that Hideki Ishikawa drew up, and I'm not suggesting it's worthwhile that anyone else does (I threw them 20 for the sheer hell of it, and for me, that's enough).  I'm just saying, it's free sh*#! in loving memory of something we wish happend.  Done using a ridiculously over-used visual style?  Yes, absolutely.  However, I don't feel that one point singlehandedly invalidates it.  If visuals were that big a concern to me, I would not be looking at fangames in the first place.

But... If you have to donate 50 bucks before you get it, it really isn't free is it? I don't care if it's a "gift" for donating 50 bucks, you still have to pay them 50 bucks for it. It may be a thank you, but it's a thank you that costs 50 bucks.

Suddenly, 2 bucks for a fully 3D Legends 3 demo/prequel doesn't sound so bad, does it.

Police Girl

Yeah, so... free download of a game that'll be probably at most 2-3 hours or $50 for a physical copy of a free download as "Thanks".

SUCH A HARD CHOICE.

Thank you.

Flame, believe me, I like my physical packages as much as the next guy.  This is, however, a digital game.  The "physical copy" is an afterthought, treat it as such.

Wait, so this is actually endorsed by Capcom like SFxMM? And here I thought Capcom outsourcing Mega Man games to fans was a joke...  -AC

Well, to not sound like a complete entitled prick, at least it's something.

Bad Box Art Snake Man Joins the Battle!

Mirby

No, not endorsed by Capcom.

Just made with the help of a few people at Capcom.

One artist (Hideki Ishikawa) and one composer (Makoto Tomozawa).  Truth be told, I don't know if their "status" with Capcom is current or former...  Ishikawa was part of the L3 Heroine design contest, though.

The title's a bit misleading then, isn't it?

Yeah, they were obviously trying to create some hysteria...
