Under normal circumstances, this is to be expected. It's a small number.

Having said that, this is definitely what you do not want to see during the holiday season where people are deciding between the two systems with the past memories of 360 failures still fresh in some minds.

Yeah I agree, especially since it currently can't be fixed.

The RRoD on the 360 or the Xboned making confetti out of the Call of Duty discs? I never had a RRoD happen with the S(lim) model.

Well, since the discs are undamaged, it doesn't technically eat the discs. The drive itself fails to work and you have that horrible death rattle.

Apparently Microsoft just waves hardware past QC when they're on a deadline. At least the 360 was capable of reading discs out of the box, even if it red-ringed later. But complete mechanical failure of the BD drive out of the box is a little much.

According to the second link it seems the ban is temporary, still that's really stupid to ban without a strike system not that the idea of going that far isn't stupid in the first place. Especially in a private conversation on Skype. Seriously Microsoft's game division would be better run by monkeys at this point.
