I honestly thought the reason it was down was because it was getting an update.

Though that wouldn't explain why the main site wasn't letting people on either.

The database was refusing connections, as it was stating max_connections reached. This affected the forum, the main site (due to the news forum integration), and some of the oekaki (the index page could be reached and you could log in, without accessing database)

I honestly thought bots had DoS'd the forum to keep the database busy.
