Back home from the Faerie Festival!  I got inked (the excess henna is starting to flake off now), but I was too late to join in the maypole dance.  The ribbons were too low to the ground, so it was kids only. :(

But, I held a furry purple tarantula, a blue-tongued skink, and a vinegaroon.  I tried to get Dad to take a pic of me with the tarantula, but he wouldn't. :(

Three people recognized what I was wearing and I got one photo op.

I assume I'm at the midway point of The Last Of Us, and it's still very fun. I came into it thinking the visuals would look like Uncharted 3, however, it definitely surpasses it. Not an easy task.

I'm actually racking my brain on how they fit all those assets, textures, lighting, etc. into a PS3 game, because all great looking games have short-comings; TLOU has none, as far as I can tell. I mean, sure, there are flat textures here and there, but the overall package is incredible. I suppose I'll just be forced to chalk it up to Naughty Dog using some kind or sorcery to pull off what they did.

As for the gameplay, it's by no means groundbreaking, but it does work. It has the basic stealth elements and shooting controls, feeling very similar to Uncharted in the shooting aspect. Love the ability to throw bottles/bricks to distract enemies.

The stealth is better than Uncharted (I keep bringing that up because, when all is said and done, Uncharted is the foundation from which TLOU is built upon) however, I find myself occasionally alerting the clickers even when carefully sneaking around them. It gets annoying, but the positives far outweigh the negatives.

That doesn't surprise me for some reason.

Cat girls, fairy cat girls, wolf girls, elves, trolls, goblins, bird girls, satyrs, I saw a griffin, lots of Green Men (guys dressed entirely in green with vines, leaves crowns of twigs, etc.), a Moss Man, lots and lots of steampunk cosplayers, faeries (as is expected), lots of belly dancers, and people covered from head to toe in mud.

What better way to celebrate the emergence of Spring than by getting closer to nature and covering yourself in mud? 8D

No idea, but steampunk is big at the Faerie Festival.

I know but I meant that with the mind set of something stupid that happened in the Mighty Number 9 fan base last year.  But yes I probably should have said years ago.

I finally decided to look up what a trans-fae goblin was.

It's a faerie trapped inside the body of a goblin.

Wedji TuCheeks is a trans-fae who frequents the Faerie Festival.   Didn't see here there this year, though.  But at least now I know what a trans-fae is!

And if you decide to get a henna tattoo... be warned that the paste smells rather strongly.  It's very spicy.

Let's see... what else did I see...

Faeries.  Adult faeries, kid faeries, dog faeries, a bearded dragon with the most adorable faerie wings...  A faerie wearing two ball pythons (one around her neck while the other hung off her arm like a purse (the snake's way of soaking in the most sun))...  Steampunk faeries, muddy faeries, green faeries, faeries with wings made of branches, a faerie with wings made of keys (Klefki, I guess), another faerie with keys hanging from her wings...

People walking around barefoot, with their feet covered in mud...  It was really muddy, so my feet got all muddy, too.  People wearing Green Man masks, lots and lots and lots of guys with kilts, and a motorcycle guy, complete with long gray beard and leather... with pink faerie wings.

Also, belly dancers.  Belly dancers EVERYWHERE.

There were tea parties at the Faerie Festival, and a couple mermaids.

Oh, and there were two pigs.  A vendor brought two pigs with him; Albert the potbelly pig was allowed to roam around without a leash.  You could walk up to him and pet him.

So apparently this is still a really noticable thing.

Mega Man and Gamer Entitlement

Which is sad, but I'm not suprised at the same time and that also makes me sad. :\

Sadly, entitlement is a problem across all fanbases. Heck, there is a group on DeviantArt devoted to their mutual hatred of Ian Flynn and the going Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Universe titles from Archie. Most of them whine and complain about stuff like the recent redesigns of the SatAM characters and though I have not been there in a while but I would guess some of them had hissy fit over the recent "reboot." What really bothers me is that they are such condescending [dark hold]. You do so much as try to explain the potential merits of the series and they will talk down to you and say nonsense like "IDW/Boom Comics should get the license" and "I can write better." And believe me, their fanfics are nothing special.

In short, this "Anti-Archie Sonic" group are a bunch of entitled twits. Much like the people complaining about Capcom not caring about Mega/Rockman.

I will freely admit that many, many SW fans also feel entitled, and I quickly dropped out of the EU discussion on TFN because I know that's where all the entitled people will show up.  Movie-purists are rejoicing while most of Lit is in mourning, and I don't even want to touch Wookieepedia right now.  Good god.

Entitlement is in all fandoms.  It's the reason why TV Tropes has coined the term "Fan Dumb."  Hell, I know I can get really Fan Dumb on some days concerning my various interests, but for the most part, I hope I'm not that bad! XD

I did get annoyed with some of the Classic Mewtwo stuff in the X and Y thread before the game came out, but it honestly wasn't that bad.

I like to say age has tempered my views. Also, this conversation on fan entitlement reminds me, I should purchase the iOS release of Sonic 2. I find myself wanting to play the restored Hidden Palace Zone. If only if they would remake the Wood Zone.

So at one point I put the translated version of the song back into Google Translate and for some reason limp turned into flabby.  I know weird stuff happens when you translate and translate again but I seriously just stared at it for a minute with a blank stare when I saw that.

Could be worse.

Could be "flaccid." D:

And I hope Dad got a picture of the adorable bearded dragon with the faerie wings.  He was so cute!  He had an orange beard and matching orange wings on his harness.  He was also shedding.

Oh, Pyro, I saw fox people.

And one faerie had a Froakie!

Actually flaccid would have made more sense.
