So it seems I have a stomach flu, what a way to end Thanksgiving break.

What us Hispanics usually do for stomach aches is either Alka-Seltzer or for a better, home remedy we take half a lemon or lime, pour lightly some salt and just suck and repeat. Its sour, but the alternate is buying fizzy drinks like Quickie mentioned that contain lemon. Those always work for me.

I think I have to stay home today since I just tossed water.  I'll ask my mom if she can buy some Hansen's Mandarin and Lime Soda, some bagels, and if she can find it Pepto Bismol in pill form since I can't hold down the liquid form.

Don't eat too much, but do attempt to eat something.  Plain bread and crackers will work, as would plain toast.  Avoid putting anything on bagels, as cream cheese would upset your stomach.  Dairy products are difficult to digest and they promote the production of mucous.

Give me enough prior warning and I can set you up here without much of a problem.  So long as I pre-arrange the visits with my housing manager, then things are fine.  The problem arises when someone shows up unexpected and expects me to let them stay.

Food poisoning usually resolves itself in a couple days.  Avoid eating anything that would upset your stomach (prisoner diet of bread and water is pretty safe, as is a liquid diet) and you should be fine.

I had food poisoning when I passed my first kidney stone.  Barfed all day the first day, sent to the hospital the same day because I was so dehydrated, and spent three days on a liquid diet at home.

Drink lots of water to stay hydrated, whether or not you throw up.  Don't drink it too fast or a lot in one sitting.  Also, sucking on ice helps.
