In Yellow, I usually box Pikachu.  Jolteon was my main electric Pokemon and Psychic killer.

May have been a good thing since I needed to deposit my items and Pikachu was running out of Thundershocks from frying all those Zubats.  That Geodude I caught saved my butt and my Spearow got half the experience. I also managed to catch a Paras so I know who to teach cut to.

In Yellow, I usually box Pikachu.  Jolteon was my main electric Pokemon and Psychic killer.
The thing is since I am playing Blue I can evolve Pikachu into Raichu and I can probably just use my future Sandslash and Fearow to kill the Psychics.  Not to mention Pin Missle isn't exactly the most reliable move......

Plus Jolteon learns Pin Missle at level 54, by that time I can just take Sabrina with pure Strength thus making Pin Missle moot.

Evo yourself an Alakazam, and beat Psychic with Psychic!! :W

Also, it takes a while to tune back to the Physical/Special split back in Gen1... Wait.
THAT MEANS PERSIAN WITN HYPER BEAM WILL SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY AGAIN!! :W

Yeah Persian could rock a Hyper Beam but I think Snorlax would be able to handle that better due to his sheer bulk.

Also I think I'll just keep Pikachu, I can teach it things like Mega Kick and Seismic Toss.   That's more than Jolteon can do.  Or I teach it Body Slam, it's not as powerful as Mega Kick but it's 100% accurate, it's more powerful than Mega Punch and it should still Paralyze stuff.

EDIT: Also thanks to the wonders of Gen 1 TMs Raichu can learn Pay Day.

EDIT 2: And Body Slam can't Paralyze Normal Types in this game, because glitches.

EDIT 3: Ah and Hyper Beam ignores the recharging if your opponent faints, so Persian would probably be fine depending on if they can knock out their opponent.

You forgot that critical hits are depending on speed.
Higher speed stat, higher chance to get critical hits, and Persian is naturally pretty fast.

Yeah that's true, in that case Hyper Beam probably would work better on a Persian.  In the mean time I caught 2 Sandshrews because the first was level 6 and the second was level 10 and the average level of the Pokemon there were like 8 or something.

I can use that extra Sandshrew as a bargaining Pokemon for an Ekans or something.

Also, in case it's needed...

Normal, Flying, Fighting, Rock, Ground, Bug, Poison and Ghost are Physical, and rely on the Attack stat.

Dragon, Fire, Grass, Electric, Psychic, Water and Ice are Special and rely on the Special stat.

Yeah I pretty much almost memorized those since I've been trying to memorize Gen 3 mechanics.

Can you bring up that picture with the list of all the Gen 1 glitches, I think you were the one who posted that.

Yeah that thing about Super Effective Moves only affecting the second type must be why my Ivysaur resists Poison moves.

EDIT: Nope Electric is still Super Effective on Slowpokes despite Water being the Primary type.  I think Poison just may be bugged in general.

EDIT 2: Yeah it is, it's supposed to be Super Effective against Grass so it should be a Neutral hit on Ivysaur, but it's Not Effective.....

EDIT 3: Also Slash Claw the Sandshew learned Slash.  I'm going to have fun with that.

EDIT 4: Misty why would you use X-Defend when Starmie's weaknesses are Special Attacks?

Oh, how I missed 90% accurate/30% freezing Blizzards, and Hyper Beam finishers.  Also, insta-kill being based off of Speed led me to ye olde Thunder Wave/Horn Drill combo.  Fun times.

I thought the bugged-attack-effectiveness-identifier thing was only in the event of the two types allegedly cancelling each other out?  Maybe that was just the most obvious, it's been a while.  Poison is obviously a frequent offender since their hybrids were common in Gen1, but I believe Dragonite had the same issue when faced with Electric attacks.

Leech Seed/Toxic exploit I didn't know about back in the day, but I honestly don't see that as imbalanced for its time.  I mean, besides the fact that Grass is defensive suicide in Gen1 anyway, your best attacks to choose from are Razor Leaf and Mega Drain.

You know what stinks?  I actually restarted my physical Yellow cart not too long ago because I wanted to start from scratch (and exploit the hell out of that Mew glitch) before transferring a new team to Stadium...  Not something the VC games are going to let me do, obviously.

I'm actually interested to know how they assign genders, natures, and other stats not in RBY for Sun and Moon. Are the eShop RBY actually generating those stats and not showing them? Or are they generated when they are uploaded to Pokemon Bank?

I have many questions that no one can answer. :)
Part of me wonders if Sun/Moon is going to revamp Pokemon stats again, given that they will not allow the VC titles to transfer to the 3DS games already out there.  Of course, it could just be laziness.  But some thoughts are:

-Natures.  Either remove them or allow the player to select them during a VC transfer.  There is no way raising a perfect Gen1 'man only to have it ruined by a random crap Nature will not suck.
-The total EV cap of 510.  Gen1's "stat experience" system has no total cap to it and is impossible to train in only a single stat at a time.  If that cap is not removed or the system is not redone entirely, it would often be impossible to "convert" a VC 'man into a legal current-gen 'man, you'd have to just kick their EVs to 0 and start over.
-This may be wishful thinking, but I would LOVE it if VC transfers got their Dream World abilities.

Speaking of Hyper Beam, Fearow has 100 base and 90 base Attack.  So I guess I'm teaming my Fearow Hyper Beam.

Also if all the Gen 1 Pokemon have their Hidden Abilities that's going to suck for the Machamp getting Fissure in this game and the No Guard Ability in Gen 7, but that might be for the best.

Well, they could always just add an exception to what moves No Guard will effect.  Wouldn't be the first time they've tweaked mechanics that way.  But yeah, EVERYONE is afraid of a No Guard Fissure Machamp.

One thing I love about Gen1 having no total-stat-experience cap: Zapdos's Drill Peck is actually worth a damn.

Also there's an interesting exploit I read about while looking up glitches on Bulbapedia.

*looking up Gen 1 glitches on Bulbapedia*

Huh, so if I had something that needs to Evolve with a Thunder Stone and a Growlithe, sent out the Pokemon who needs to Evolve with the Thunder Stone then send out the Growlithe and have the Growlithe faint the Pokemon the other Pokemon will evolve without needing a Thunder Stone.

I might just try that, there's also other Pokemon that do that like Exeggcutor and anything that needs a Moon Stone to Evolve so that gets around only having 4 Moon Stones in the entire game.  Unfortunately the Pokemon with the Fire Stone flag is Missingno......

If not...

Oh yeah that's how I got through Viridian Forest, I caught a Weedle and just destroyed everything that wasn't another Weedle or Kakuna.  I also murdered like 5 or 7 Pikachu while grinding.

His Raticate was the lowest level mon on his team.  Honestly never liked the theory that Red killed Blue's Raticate because it doesn't make sense since Red is a kind trainer that would probably make sure both Pokemon didn't over exert themselves.

Just cleaning up on the S. S. Anne before I rub an oldman's back.

Guess I can get them when I get home.

Anyway I'm in Lavender Town.  Normally I love the Lavender Town theme but that god damn buzzing due to the Gameboy limitations is so grating.
