That's mainly due to coding and that some previous-gen Pokemon will recieve new types when transferred over to X/Y.  Older games cannot access the Pokemon Bank, which will be a major factor in transferring from previous games, too.

Basically, I could transfer a Mr. Mine from White, but I can't send it back because it now has a Fairy subtype.  B/W also can't access the Bank; it wasn't encoded to do so.

Just Black and White 2 versions only? Kinda horrible... :<

Good thing it's free for the first month, after I'm done with what I need I'm removing it from my console/account.
Just don't see the point after transferring your Pokemon as it's a one-way trip (like with Red/Blue/Yellow with Gold/Silver back in the day but it's was reasonable, no "paying" to transfer) and only the ones you need.

How hard is it to get a Shiny Pokemon with Perfect IVs (all 31s) and Perfect Nature for them? And how much EV can a I Pokemon have again? I believe it was 255 in total?

Bank will probably be used for all future generation transferrals so you'll probably have to pay for it eventually, besides you're not paying for the transfer aspect of it but rather for the online storage.

You know, all these trading restrictions have been in effect since Gen2, transfering from an older generation to a newer generation is acceptable, but you cannot go the other way.

Anyways, I'll have the Scatterbug Bonaza again for the next hour.
Any other takers?
All I'm asking is your Scatterbug, for my Scatterbug.

I'm watching you all. Always watching.

Sakura Leic

I'm probably going to be home in about 2-3 hours but I need to trade with someone to evolve my Haunter.

Honestly, I don't see what the problem is to pay $5 a YEAR for server upkeep.  I bet many of you have memberships to various stores that require a yearly fee of about $25.  I have two memberships like that, one to Barnes & Noble, the other to Books-A-Million.  $5 a year for server upkeep and a place to store all my Pokemon is a drop in the bucket.

It's five dollars.  A year.

FIVE.  DOLLARS.  A. YEAR.

FIVE
DOLLARS
A
YEAR

Yeah, I was thinking this myself...

@Quickie: I've had people [sonic slicer] at me saying that $5 is sometimes too much for people to afford and being broke almost all the time myself, that makes me wonder... Why the [tornado fang] are you wasting your money on a 3DS and Pokemon if you can't even spare $5 for anything? Why the [tornado fang] don't you use that for more survival reasons than a damn video game?

Ditto, and I haven't played since Johto.

@Mirby:  Exactly.  I am not made of money and this holiday season will be a bit tight.  My last couple bills were a bit overdue (not by much), but more to do with other circumstances rather than money.  I live on a fixed income, and I pay my rent, utilities, plus groceries and medical copays.  Compared to my MONTHLY budget, five dollars annually is nothing.

What the hell kind of lifestyle are people living when they cannot afford to set aside a single Lincoln per year?

Mirby

$5 a year is about $0.42 a month.

That's not even two quarters. You could save up enough just from change you find on the ground. I know money can seem like a lot, but $5/year is still nothing.

I have a change jar, which I need to eventually take to a Coinstar.  I can assure you that I have accumulated a considerable amount of cash in it over the course of the year, enough to pay for the annual fee and more.  If people are that damn worried, set up a change jar for the fee.  Drop your change in it every day.  I guarantee within a week, you'll have the fee paid off.

Dr. Wily II

I still wonder how payment will be made.

If it's via eShop, I'm royally screwed either way.

I'm watching you all. Always watching.

Are we talking best case or worst case scenario? I can punch in some numbers for you if you want.

I think I'll go on another Abra hunt.   I'll put Runaway in the starting position to deal with the inevitable Scraggy hordes that I hate so much.  Dazzling Gleam takes them all out in one fell swoop and they topple like dominos.  God, I love you, Runaway.  It brings me so much joy to see you sweep a horde like that.

Also see it from this point of view:
PSN Plus is $50 per year.
Xbox Live Gold is roughly the same.

These are reflected prices on the type of content the providers are offering.

Surely you can afford $5 a year, which is pretty much nothing. XD

Caught two more Abras.  One is named Fu Manchu, and the other is the Amazing Prosciutto.

Now there was a ham.

Turns out there are some really nice folks on Wonder Trade, who actually use the markings on their breeding attempts. It's always good to check the markings on the pokemon you receive.

I've gotten a few 3V or 4V pokemon, and a few of them in species I eventually wanted to raise. Maybe tonight, I will continue refining the 4V Timid Litwick I got.

I guess all I can really say is it isn't exactly what I'd expect out of a $4.4M game

It doesn't even have mouth animations

Still don't know if I should teach my Shellder Explosion or not.

yeah i can't beat anyone anymore

i'm quitting pokemon bye

Akamaru

Ah, I have only 1 win to your 4. The reason our battle ended the way it did is 'cause I was starting to be able to predict what you were going to do thanks to our battles. It's really was a good battle. I recommend with sticking to a Main 6 with only 1 or 2 replacements. If you keep changing your team a around, it gets hard to master them.
