From what I can tell, "Day and Night" is what Claris and Elliots's final-level forms are called. (I don't remember if I heard that from Parody into Dreams, a riffing of the Archie NiGHTS comic that's no longer up, or somewhere else) But, they look just like NiGHTS (I think; their colorations looked slightly different to me, but I was veiwing them through YouTube). I can't have that. So I did this.

That half-assed background is an attempt to add interest to the picture (it's of the Twin Seeds Tower). The fusions themselves were inspired by Rikdo Koshi's doujin featuring NiGHTS (and the NiD part is the only non-porno bit), except Claris doesn't have visible boobs. >.>

Quick question: What's the logic behind the Dynamo/Alia pairing?

Was originally going to split this into multiple deviations, but decided against it. Like the odds and ends for Zelda, this is all pen/permanent markers/computer touch-ups because the markers bleed.

* Ulala's outfit is derived from the one I gave her in 2005/6, because I couldn't remember her actual outfit.

* The two girls in the circle are the Great Giana Sisters ("The Brothers are history!"). Their appearances are derived from an ad for the game, "I'm Cool" patch and all. (Maria has more hair here, though. Seriously, why the mohawk?..)

* "CLARiS" and "ELLiOT" are the names I gave the kids when they're dualized with NiGHTS. 'Tis a stupid play on words.

* I had to draw Nightmare Zero sometime.

* You get no points for guessing who I based "Heartman" off of. :/ The Megaman beside him was just a test of different colour schemes.

* Mageman would like you to know that he's not embarrassed by the pink bits of his armour. Guess what name you get when you switch around two letters of his?

* Masquerade's Metalwoman alongside mine (whose armour was miscoloured; it's supposed to be a brighter shade of red). Mine smokes.

* Link's feeling a little down.

* Megaman meets his Maren self/counterpart.

* Roll protecting Zoey, an American girl who's trying very hard not to get caught up in a huge mess involving a dislocated Chinese eldritch abomination. Unsurprisingly, it's dream-based. If I can ever get off my lazy ass and go further into detail...

* Megamaren says hi.

* Iris with a helmet. This is before she decides that there's nothing for her as a Hunter and becomes a Navigator.

* Minara is a character from NAdM...sort of. One reader pitched the idea to the writers; she was meant to be Zero's girlfriend (the comic came out before X4; no Iris, and I'd hate to think how she'd be handled...). Minara wasn't used, but the writers said that if a future artist wanted to implement her into the story, they could. I kinda like her, but as Rodrigo Shin pointed out, she's VERY similar to Tifa Lockheart. Maybe if her design was tweaked...

* NiGHTS's hair. I'd been using ~astrima's long-blonde-hair-and-horns design for so long...

* *ChaosCroc hacked into Protoman. Oh [parasitic bomb].

* Can you guess what RS-Rock got crossed over with? (Without spoilering anything, its diverse cast was capable of flight.)

* MegaMagic Rock is angry at something. Maybe one of the eight wizards mistook him for a girl.

* Random Megaman concept that came out looking like how I draw helmetless Ra Tor.

Another design for my fan-Gen OPAL VOiD (I think Engelbaum dropped the all-caps-except-for-the-I's spelling). Still a conservative outfit, but a bit more practical, with actual colour.

Void eventually leaves her home (for longer periods of time, anyway) to join what's left of the Gens. Those rainbows on her shoulders represent her finally embracing UNiTY, or something like that. Interactions with others are still awkward at best, but she's getting better.

Two other fan Gens of mine, rescued from the lamer heap.

These two were once proper Gens, but something in them snapped, and they sold out to Reala/Pendula (I think he's Reala's Engelbaum equivalent). Now they're Anti-Gens, living to make everyone's lives miserable both on and off the dream plane. Perhaps tellingly, even when they were true Gens, they had no dreamers.

(Chartreuse) Power intimidates others physically, seemingly unaware of their feelings, only of their reactions. He revels in causing chaos, but his ego is so fragile that damaging it even slightly is liable to get you killed (as Void finds out when she finally deflates him).

(Marigold) Contempt prefers to torment others psychologically, beginning with ugly rumours and going up from there. Her favourite subject is sex, even though she doesn't quite comprehend it or its consequences (and being mechanical doesn't help). Contempt follows Power around, directing him towards victims that ignored her.


I'm not sure about the details concerning the Anti-Gens; all I have is that old picture of :devastrima:'s, and it's not in her gallery anymore, so I can't reference the description (if there was one). But they represented bad things/desperate people, if I remember correctly. Power and Contempt are, basically, the male and female halves of the assholes I had to put up with until junior year.

Now that those permanent markers of mine are the "colored doodles only" markers, I can get more sketches to look like this.

Sort of dream-based; half of it took place within buildings of some dark, semi-crapsack-yet-not-quite-dystopian city on another planet, the other half within some cafe that inexplicably had open restrooms wherein rude, nude old men sat. DO. NOT. WANT. Oh, and the patrons were pushy and snobbish. Figures.

Ulala had that hairstyle for all of one scene, when she was preparing to fire a "genocidal" laser into the city because today was apparently "Harass the Reporters from Another Planet Day" (she was very upset). Just...buh?

There were a ton of female dancers following Ulala, only a few of which stuck out. The blonde lass in the nice hat is one of them; I've decided to call her Ross. Perhaps she lost a dance-off to Ulala?

The lady with the glasses was created a few days ago; the only name I can think of for her is "Ms. Madison". She meets Ulala while in the midst of defending herself from robots.

The next girl I thought looked too similar to Pine, so I shortened her hair. She was one of Ulala's groupies in that dream; I think I'll call her Quade.

Pudding was there as well, shooting down secret police once things really started going down the crapper. (and it suddenly shifted to her POV. And "chu" became "you"...what?)

I dunno whether or not Evila was following Ulala, but I included her anyway. (I've seen a screenshot of her with the same skin color as Ulala and purple hair...huh.)

Finally...Pine, because I get the impression that out of herself, Pudding, and Ulala, she's the least popular.

While we were driving home from Publix one day, this idea came to me (looking a bit different, but hey).

Dread Nightshade remained a botanist even after joining Sigma. She'd still be living in Abel City had her wares not continually gone towards bio-terrorists--without her knowledge, but bio-terrorists all the same. After narrowly avoiding being ventilated by a group of Hunters, one of Sigma's lackeys appeared before Nightshade and offered to help her.

It's hard to say whether or not she's really a Maverick--while she's certainly batting for Team Sigma, she's still a kind, if not apathetic, Reploid. Unfortunately, her kindness is often offset by what it is she specializes in (poisonous plants, especially her namesake).

As weird as it is, I'm glad they made Reala more distinct from NiGHTS.

Something compelled me to draw the American manual designs(?) for the DQ4 cast. From left to right: Ragnar McRyan, The Heroine, Alena, Kiryl, Borya, Torneko, Maya, and Meena.

For the most part, everyone's designs are true to the sprites (with the exception of Maya's, whose design was taken from Nintendo Power. I would've included the NP version of Meena as well, but the scan was to small to correctly draw all the details...and there were a lot). Except Alena, who's a completely different person. I guess girls in giant hats wouldn't catch on in America until later.

Oh, and in my copy of DQ4 DS, I named The Heroine "Roll". Lame. >.>

This lady is Roll's rival from a doujin game called "Rockmen R" (Vixy has a guide on it in the Similar Games section). First time you see her, she's dressed up as you (a cartoon plot that logically should be foiled by the vastly different hair colours). I guess she trying to pin the blame on her rampage of destruction (if she had one; I haven't played it) on you?

At any rate, I like her design. Bleh.

'Bout time I drew one of my MM Gold RMs again. And he's being a frownyface at Rapidman, an RM from Rockmen R (see my previous submission). Rapid's more bandit than cowboy, but still.

The odd thing about the RMR bosses is that while they look like they could be official RMs...at the same time, they don't. Maybe it's the colour scheme (lots of brown and magenta).

These fellows are the creatively named "Six" from Novas Adventuras de Megaman, that third-party MM product that makes Keiji Inafune wonder what was put in his coffee (assuming he's ever seen it. Good money says he hasn't). While they appear in the first issue, we never get a good look at them until #13. and I have to say, I don't think their designs are as bad as Mr. Shin said, but they look completely different from what their implied designs were back in #1. Consistency wasn't NAdM's strong point.

Anyway...technically, they're just the Five. See, Protoman is one of them. Oh yes. It's never explained why (and even if someone asked why, all the editors would say is "MYSTERIES!". Which is actually a good way to make sure you don't accidentally contradict yourself, but since NAdM stopped short...). Gauntlet suggested that it's because Protoman is one of the first robots ever and that it's an elaborate plot to overthrow Wily, which I'll go with. But given Proto's actions in the comic, I'm going to add "somewhere down the line, Protoman snapped very, very hard".

That's not even the weirdest part, though. See, the Five intend to make Protoman pay for his offscreen betrayal. Fine and dandy. Then they find him--and let him rejoin, calling him "brother" (which would mean that the Five were built by Dr. Light as well, unless they call ALL their comrades "brother"). Presumably, they were going to trash Protoman after he let his guard down--but then Wily, who allowed the Five to seek the red raider out, suddenly says that the Five (or Six now) betrayed him!

My best guess is, Wily saw them "welcome" Protoman and assumed the worst. And now that Wily's trying to kill the Five as well, they've got little choice but to stick with "the Mega family" (as the editors were fond of calling them) until they could get everything sorted out.

Oh, and with the exception of Protoman, none of the Six are named. But I'm sure that if the writers ever got around to naming them, theirs would be Brazilian. Because EVERYONE in that damn comic was Brazilian, even Megaman. Brazilitis for the dubious win.


I dunno...there was an artistic void left by not drawing them, and now that I have...I'm not sure if that was a good thing. :/

I'm aware it's "Dragon QUEST" now, but the title had a better ring to it this way.

Rock - His parents moved to a different island after the untimely death of his cousin, a skilled swordsman named Megane. Rock wants to be a swordsman as well, but at least a fighter, but he's constantly told that he can't--he really is that bad at swordplay. This frustrates him to no end, but he keeps at it anyway, convinced that he can't be a total failure. The sword he carries was Megane's, and Rock takes extra care of it, as to respect his cousin's memory.

Roll - A native to Rock's new home. She wants to become a dark magician, but the practices involved with that occupation frighten the people and at times even Roll. She has to tone down her magic so that the others won't try to lynch her. One day, she and Rock (whom she became friends with very quickly) find a slab with five gems embedded in it. The librarian says that it's ceremonial, but stops himself before he can go on. Whatever its purpose, there's nothing Roll can do with it, so she keeps it around until the day she can.

Blues - A thief from a neighboring kingdom that Rock and Roll rather violently subdued one night. They told him that they wouldn't report him to the duke if he agreed to "hang out" with them; Blues resents them bitterly for this, as he simply wants to return home now. It may be for the best, though, considering how the duke takes care of thieves and other criminals. All Rock really cares about is getting Blues to teach him how to fight.

Iris - She's the sister of a high-ranking soldier in the duke's army, Carnel, but she doesn't enjoy warfare. In fact, she's tried to have Carnel discharged several times (honourably, of course). Her most recent failure has made her depressed and lethargic, which doesn't bode well for her job as a hotel concierge. Iris takes interest in the slab that Roll found, and in her off hours, tries to figure out just what kind of ceremony it would be used in.


That's, like, the third sinster AU Roll I've written. :/
