What is Pharaoh Shot anyway?

Is it a charged up ball of some kind of energy? Or is it a big ball of sand? Never was sure just by playing the games, seemed it could go either way.

Sun is bright, so he has to be weak to his own weapon?

I like to draw... NOT!
Seriously.

referring to Power Fighters....

i forgot to use mega man thought but you get the point

Hypershell

Well, Power Fighters is "Pharaoh Wave", not "Pharaoh Shot", but yes it is a heat-based weapon.  Odds are Pharaoh Shot is similar.

Yeah, I always thought of it as a big fireball, cause that's the closest thing MM4 has to a fire weapon.

What happens in Vegas stays on Youtube. I also stream on Twitch from time to time.

KoiDrake

I thought it was pretty obvious that it was at least some kind of energy, it doesn't look like sand in the slightest :\

Rock Miyabi

I'd say the Official Weapon Art pretty much screams sun, not sand.

And when you consider the Pharaoh's connection to the sun in ancient Egypt (often considered to be the son of the sun god), it makes the most sense that Pharaoh Man harnesses the power of the sun.

I mean, c'mon, he wouldn't pull off the disco inferno pose if he wasn't underneath something bright!

Previously was K.G. Inafunbags, Captain Heady, Damon Gant, and the guy who liked the blue bomber solely for the reason that he was blue.

Turian

Okay cool. Case closed! Thanks guys!

Edit: But now I have a different question. Why doesn't Pharaoh Man ever actually use the Pharaoh shot? He shoots out waves of energy, not a big ball of it. I wonder why they made it into a big ball of energy instead of a wave like his actual attack?

Hypershell

He does use the shot in Power Fighters, which is odd since you get the wave and not the shot in that game.  I don't remember his NES pattern that well, honestly.

I always thought it was cheese lol

and also Mega Man sprite sheet has this 2 hit punch charge attack, and i've never seen it in game. How do you do it?

VixyNyan

Hold Up and release the charged up Attack button. It's a Rock Upper.

The other characters has their own moves too, like Blues Strike and Crescent Kick.

Actually, it does damage him quite a bit!

I meant this one :p

I think you get that if you get the power up parts. You do that right before the Mega upper. Kinda like a Mestu Shoryuken.

Is there a trick to getting him to pull that off?  Even with the power up parts, I've never got Megaman (or Protoman for that matter) to do any kind of upgraded special move.

I think you just charge up your buster and hold up when you attack. It helps to be very close also.

Well that's the thing, I've never gotten Megaman to do anything else besides the regular Shoryuken, even with the power up parts.  I've never seen the "Metsu Shoryuken" that's in the sprite sheet.  I wanted to know if there's some kind of special command  or something you have to input to get the 2 punches before the actual uppercut.

I don't think there is. I was doing it a couple weeks ago on the anniversary collection, I think. Honestly, I'm not sure if that animation kicks in, but I KNOW the shoryuken does three hits when you have the powerup parts.

Karasai♪

Guys lets solve this mystery!

let me pop in Anniversary Collection.

unless.... that move is only in the arcade version which i doubt

Shoryuken does 3 hits anyway, though.  It's just a matter of getting those extra couple of punches to show up that are on the spritesheet.  I'm beginning to think that they're unused, as I've been messing around with the arcade version of PF and haven't gotten any other variation of the move to come out, no matter what powerup I'm holding.

Special moves are both in the console (Anniversary Collection) and arcade versions of Power Fighters.  I'm beginning to wonder if the upgrades for the Search For Wily route were incomplete for Protoman & Megaman, as those are the only characters that I haven't noticed any special move upgrade for.

You do have a point....

Proto Man has unused sprites of him using his shield as a weapon

Double Punch sprites arent seen in the game

Bass has the double Flash Kick

Duo has the uppercut and the Punch

MYSTERY SOLVED

However..... Mega Man has unused sprites of him doing the Hadoken.

Perhaps that was supposed to be his upgraded special attack? Since he has the Shoryuken? weird....
