Revenance is a combination of Revenant (Reven) and Vengance (geance), from what I can tell. Judging by the Etymology.

Anyway, onto the trailer. I love how everyone (uhhhmm, wait. Most people) is fanwanking on how derailing the game is to the MGS continuity.  

I think people are missing the point. Kojima choice a word as ridiculous as "revengeance" as a subtitle for a new IP, the dialogue is rather over the top, the action borders on Gurren Lagann insane, and its being developed by Platinum Games.

Number 1: Kojima is [tornado fang]ing trolling you.  
Number 2: Its Platinum Games, it'll be weird if the game wasn't over the top.  
Number 3: It's call Metal Gear RISING. It is not SOLID. Henceforth, it doesn't need to be similar to MGS.  
Number 4: Fanboys (and one girl), this genre is called "Hack and Slash". most of the time it is repetitive. Yet recall that games like Devil May Cry, God of War, and Ninja Gaiden manage to be fun and intuitive. Also, Platinum Games made Bayonetta! So why are you so worried?  
Number 5: Does this [parasitic bomb] need to make sense? It's AWESOME!!

Although we know Platinum Games took on Bayonetta, it was relatively a new IP. This is Metal Gear, a well-known franchise, is a completely diffrent ballgame, in which most cases, when people think Metal Gear, they think stealth missions and well, robots, if you call the Metal Gears that.

Kojima has nothing to do with this though! If it wasn't already pretty much stated that, at least for a couple of years, there won't be a ZoE3, I'd tell you that there's a small chance it could be in production (...I want more Boktai first though).

Anyways, I find it hilarious that, according to their podcast, the reason the only thing we were ever shown from the previous version of the game was the cutting, is because that was literally the only good idea the previous team could come up with

I know he has nothing to do with it. Again, he probably wants to make it but as long as Metal Gear guarantees profit whereas a ZOE3 does not, they're going to go with the money maker every time.

People seem to forget just how batshit insane the Metal Gear series is in the first place Hell the original Cyborg Ninja kept Rex from crushing him with just one hand, Raiden throwing Metal Gears around and then slicing them up isn't that far fetched in universe if you ask me.

Platinum Games can take this game as far as they want if you ask me.

Eh.  Can't really say I've got any big interest in this, personally.  Maybe a smidgen more than previously, but I don't think I can take any more Metal Gear, regardless of what genre it is.
