After reading a couple of those comics, when they were posted on /co/... plus reading some of the discussions about the game itself, I now want to play this.

That, and Kid Icarus.

Le sigh... I think it's time to save up some money in my piggy bank.

If I have enough money left over after my bike purchase and my computer + accessories, I'm definitely seeing if it's okay with my parents to drop some more on a 3DS. Don't think I can go much longer without Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, and with Pokemon X/Y and Zelda around the corner...

Because its probably the most accessible FE game ever.

The option to turn off Permadeath is probably why that is.

That's what I did. I'm not a strategist by any means, even on the easiest difficulties I still lose guys. But if the main lord or the player created unit die then the game still ends. You don't have to sortie the custom character but he/she can be one of the best units if you train them up, once you do though they'll become a massive liability, and Chrom is just deadweight so Pair up is mainly used to keep him from getting killed.

You can turn off permadeath?

There's two options:

Casual mode - No Permadeath

Classic mode - Permadeath

And the difficulty settings applied to them: Hard/Classic or Hard/Casual, etc.
