Given that like with some other entries (Evangelion mainly needed to have a complete arc, Mazinger Z was given Mazinkaiser to give it's story some closure), Banpresto had to re-write SEED in order to keep within the context of the game, and how some of the devs didin't like how it turned out due to some of the holes the plot devices made.
