Oh wow. That'd be cool too, even though I still want a Star Fox.

Starfox or F-Zero
Nintendo no longer loves F-Zero...
CURSE YOU NINTENDO! THAT WAS MY CHILDHOOD! O:<

Keepin' em coming!

- should be backwards compatible with Wiimotes
- Project Cafe controller may have some sort of gyroscopic control
- still saying the platform is significantly more powerful than 360/PS3
- Project Cafe controller with built-in screen is indeed the platform's main control scheme
- Nintendo wants to launch in Q1 or Q2 2012 if possible
- controller will most likely not be able to retain any data of its own
- for streaming game content from console to controller, there will most likely be a range for data transfer, and the system will have to be powered on
- controller's internal guts should mostly be related to the buttons and content streaming
- another statement saying that Project Cafe games will be at E3, but will most likely not be playable

Eternal Darkness 2 huh? Odd, I thought the rights belonged to Silicon Knights. I guess that would explain why it never popped up anywhere else before though. Looking at the Prime series, I'm sure Retro could do it well, considering some of the elements they've already used before.

Kieran

I've never actually played Eternal Darkness.

Commander Shepard: *stares blankly at a video of scantily clad asari dancers* ...What kind of hotel is this?
Liara T'Soni: It is a luxury resort with an... exotic edge.  Azure is slang for a part of the asari body in some places on Illium.
Shepard: Where?
Liara: The lower reaches, near the bottom.
Shepard: I meant, "where on the asari body?"
Liara: So did I.

Waifu

I wish that I wasn't the last get these awesome systems, I just had me Wii last year and I had yet to get any Wiiware. I hate having to wait to start my job!

Flame

Bluray? More powerful than 360/PS3? Touchscreen..?

hoooo boy. I wonder what the price for this baby's gonna be.

I'll be AMAZED if they somehow manage to keep it affordable.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

All that amazing tech is like 2 years old by now so it'll probably only be a little more than the Wii was originally.

Kieran

I'll be surprised if they release it for more than $250.

Align's right, considering that the 360 and the PS3 are already over five years old, you can probably build something with better raw specs without breaking the bank.

And the hits just keep on comin'

- retail cost of anywhere between $350 and $400
- will ship from Taiwanese manufacturer, Foxconn, this October
- earliest possible retail release anywhere between mid-October and early November
- built on revamped version of AMD's R700 GPU architecture
- will out perform the PlayStation 3's NVIDIA 7800GTX-based processor
- CPU will be a custom-built triple-core IBM PowerPC chipset
- clocking speeds will be faster
- 1080p output with the potential for stereoscopic 3D as well
- overall size will be comparable to that of the original Xbox 360
- likely to resemble a modernized version of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System
- utilize controllers with integrated touchscreens and be capable of streaming games to each controller
- could feasibly provide a virtualized console for each individual unit
- considering naming the platform Stream, but there are several other names being considered

Align

Sounds like they're putting more tech and less family-friendly this time. Just like old times...

Kieran

I still hesitate to believe that the console will cost any more than the Wii and the 3DS.  Every Nintendo console in history has been about the same price, and I can't see them doubling it now.

Edit: Though, I have to admit that the NES's launch price, if you adjust for inflation, was well over $400...

Are we sure that's the US price?

If so, totally called it. old or not, it is still new and powerful technology, and if this thing claims to be stronger than the 360 and PS3, there is no way it can be too cheap.

Hypershell

I'm gonna wager $300-350.  Nintendo's pushed the envelope a bit higher than usual lately, but I don't see them launching a $400 console.  Recall, if you will, that everyone and their dog claimed $300 for the 3DS (based on currency exchange rates, which was senseless).

That mockup made me realize that Cafe controllers could basically look like oversized NES controllers. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing

The controllers better have rechargeable battery packs and not replaceable ones. I don't want to have to deal with finding new batteries.

Acid

How about cords you plug into the system?

Kieran

Pfff, cords, in this day and age?

All kidding aside, I'd rather see removable battery packs.  That way you don't have to buy a new controller whenever one stops holding a charge.

I guess all I can really say is it isn't exactly what I'd expect out of a $4.4M game

It doesn't even have mouth animations

Though... Ninty seems to be keen on docks now, if the 3DS is going to be setting trends and all, so controller docking...? (or i'm just mad)
Docking docking docking; all this talk of docking is making me want some Voltron.

I support this~ Because it helps recharge the controller battery pack at the same time. ^^
