Apparently, they're taking the series to the Vita. Supposedly a reboot, or something, and not a sequel to the 3DS entries. It's unclear yet if it will release on both 3DS and Vita, or they're making a separate sub-series on the Vita, or the franchise is abandoning the 3DS.

The plus side is, at least the Vita is region free. Not that I have one yet, though.

In addition to the “National Hanzou Academy” and “Private Ladies Academy of the Serpent,” new forces include the “Death Cram School Ladies Institute of Moonlight” and “Red Blaze Corps.”

Red Blaze Corps characters were not shared. Death Cram School characters include:
Yuki Izumi (CV: Yumi Hara)
Kusamura (CV: Hisako Kanemoto)
Yozakura (CV: Kaori Ishihara)
Shiki (CV: Ayano Yamamoto)
Minori (CV: Hiromi Igarashi)

First print run copies of the game will include a visuals book, soundtrack, drama CD, and a folder with ladies wearing nothing. The most popular character will appear on the cover (according to a popularity contest).

Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus is due in Japan on February 28 for 6,980 yen.

So they're moving away from a side scrolling brawler model to a a more dynamic 3D camera? Hm. Not sure if want. It does, however, remind me of the route Ikkitousen games took on the PS2.

It's still on my radar though. I suppose, by default, even more so than the originals since the Vita is region free.

Takaki says even though characters lose their costumes Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus will be rated CERO D (17+) and none of the girls will be fully nude. They will attempt to cover themselves up by holding their hands over sensitive areas, Takaki explained while imitating this with a gesture.

Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus will have downloadable costumes too. Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus comes out on February 28 in Japan.

ShinoVi(ta) = It's a play on words, explaining what system it's for. Simply changing the B to V intentionally.

I don't want to say that it's a true sequel to the past games, it's more like a side-story brawler against multiple players.

But if they decide to call it a true sequel, it's the 3rd in the series.

I'm honestly not all that enthusiastic about this one.

For one, the sexual aspect has been hyper charged, when it is already super charged to begin with. It's just way over the pandering line, into obnoxious. Also, now it doesn't have the side scrolling brawler gameplay, which is the only point of interest for me to begin with.

Even as an easily importable title, I think it's a pass for me.
