the DS didn't have semi-regular firmware updates nor did it have region-locking.

OBJECTION MAN

Didn't stop the PSP hackers >_>

Where are they, they need to get working on the 3DS... Screw the Vita.

ROMs has already been ripped and are available all over now, in varying sizes from 512MB to 4GB, if not more.

Only the "loaders", emulators and flash cartridges are missing. ^^;

Not only that.
These roms are encrypted.
And the keys (to decryption) most probably lay in the hardware of 3DS.

OBJECTION MAN

I hope they figure out something soon, cause this region locking is just bullshit. I would have just gotten it imported, but well, guess not.

I'm wondering how that will work, if it will require full firmware upgrades, or rebooting to a new firmware like the PSP's can, or something totally different. The only real problem I foresee is that the wifi is actually useful, and mandating an update to get back on their network might actually cause problems for some people. On the DS it was a non issue because of very little updates, and on the Wii it had such terrible network support no one typically cared.

360 and PS3 though? No one really screws with that, for fear of lost network support.

Yikes! I'm forgetting emulating a 3DS then. Those games are potential HDD killers. ::)

OBJECTION MAN

How is that 3DS emulation/Rom Loaders coming anyway. It's pretty obvious this series isn't leaving Japan and I'm sure as hell not going to buy a second 3DS for foreign games.

They still aren't. They need to find the 3DS common key to unlock the ability to load the ROMs, which they still haven't found yet. :<

Sounds like they're on the verge of it though if they've already narrowed it down to the piece they're missing. That's hopeful at least.

Again, why would Nintendo put Region-Locking on the 3DS, and the DSi XL units.

The gameplay on this game looks interesting, but I'm not going to import a second foreign 3DS just to play games from that region. I hate wasting money when I need to save it for other things, like food and supplies.

And past things we forgot to post.

Slightly better quality on the OP video for Burst

Oh and the series is (finally?!) getting an anime broadcast with a set amount of episodes~

Sources also say that XSeed is thinking about (or trying to) localizing the games to English regions.
Cross your fingers,everyone. ^^

And if I remember correctly, the game will most likely get slammed by critics due to the content if it came out to the west, no doubt about it, plus you know.. soccer moms. Just like games before it (and nintendo of america, gotta remember that).

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

VixyNyan

It's still be a good game either way, just look the other way around and enjoy the ride. ^^

Besides, games like Neptunia and Code of Princess are doing well in being accepted outside Japan.

Well, there WERE games like Mortal Kombat and Conker's BFD (one being VERY gory and the other one quite.. out there, even being on the N64 it landed an "M") so.. Eye of the beholder I guess? But being on a NINTENDO CONSOLE would definitely raise some eyebrows, considering that Nintendo of America had that "kid friendly" image for so long, but once this future M-Rated title (M of course, sexual themes and various other nods here and there) they're gonna have to come up with a new game plan.

Ooh well. I'll just keep tuning in to CBS News Channel 5 then for the latest update.

Nintendo's been quite good with the M-rated games lately. Resident Evil's found a home on their consoles (Revelations, anyone?), Eternal Darkness is a classic on Gamecube, and there's quite a few other examples. To think that is still an issue is to live in the past, Gaia.

It doesn't even have mouth animations

I don't think I have.. Guess I've been hanging with the wrong crowd.. Or I have been too busy with other things to notice (or just damn picky lately). I am relived to hear that. Might as well chin up and give it a go.

Might I suggest you do your research before making claims as you did before? The Wii U launch lineup looks pretty good.

Anyways, it would be interesting if this came stateside.

Nintendo's fine on violence, yeah, but sex is another story.  Remember how scandalous DoA Dimensions was; the thing's only T-rated and it still managed to be ruled as child porn in certain corners of the world (which is RIDICULOUS considering how tame the game is compared to series entries in Sony and Microsoft's corners).

It basically boils down to how much leeway accepting the M rating will buy them.

This is true, but my point mainly was that Nintendo's more lenient with M-rating material than they were back in the day.
