I'm in a bad place with this. The lack of EXE sends off certain bells in my mind.

Oh well... I guess we'll either see something that sucks or something that is remotely interesting.

KoiDrake

Seems like you don't appreciate fanart for some reason?

And the EXE and Starforce series were left out because they don't completely belong to Capcom.

Aresian

I appreciate fanart, I just feel very eh I guess. Lately I've felt that way about a lot of stuff.

I miss EXE, that's my main thing. And it goes unnoticed these days due to a lot of stuff. Oh well, dun mind me.

KoiDrake

I was sad that EXE and Starforce didn't got in too, the best thing those series had where the designs of the characters in my opinion, but what can we do...

I'd probably feel the same way than you too if it weren't for the fact that I've seen some stuff from previous books (Street Fighter and Darkstalker), which where mindblowing for me. I guess I'm expecting the same quality of works on this book (and maybe my drawing somewhere inbetween  8D)

The Great Gonzo

I was more disappointed that no extra-game characters or designs were allowed, myself; no Zodiac 'Bots or badass Ruby-Spears MM. :(

Hypershell

The Ruby-Spears MegaMan exclusion had me raising a few eyebrows.  Isn't that really just an art style?  Granted, Roll's a pretty loose interpretation, but still.

The Great Gonzo

I guess if you wanted to get technical, RS-MM being a separate continuity from the games would make that more than a mere shift in art style...but I don't speak legalese, so what do I know. (Also, I am tired and this post likely makes little sense)

The same could be said for Ariga-Mega, and it's excluded too.

Hypershell

Actually, no, Ariga-Mega was NOT excluded.  Which is what makes it all the more weird that RS was.

QuoteIn this specific case, Ariga is a good friend of UDON. If people want to draw Ariga's version of characters, I'm sure he would be thrilled. Though really, Ariga's characters are the classic versions just drawn in his own style.

Maybe they're concerned that RS would fall within the same "other distributors" loophole that nailed BN/SF?  *shrugs*

The Great Gonzo

...Forgot that. derp.

Other manga versions aren't allowed, so at least there's no (other?) double standarding going on. I hope.

Oh crap, I didn't knew that, why didn't they added that info in the rules? ¬_¬

And RS-MM is awful anyway, dunno why would you care about it.

Flame

Its cult classic. So bad it's good.

Like the SF movie.

Plus come on. for its time it was great. I couldnt tell the difference when i was younger anyway. It was just Megaman.

KoiDrake

As I said, each to their own. I thought the show was awfully lame. Sucky memes don't make a show/movie good for me...

Blackhook

When I was a kid the show had all that I needed to be happy :D

KoiDrake

The contest got extended until the 4th of february

Hypershell

Really?  Lucky break for me.  I did two drawings, had to scrap the first because it was landscape and not portrait.  Then I found out all-too-late last night that my computer refuses to tolerate images of too high a resolution, thwarting my amateur colorizing attempts. o-O

This'll give me time to take another crack at it.

Krystal

I should probably use the extension to polish up my entry a little more but I have totally lost all motivation to continue working on my picture.

Anyway, I'd be like: Oh mememememe I'm an RPM artist who's submitting! But technically I wasn't.

I personally find it kinda strange they let Ariga designs through, since some of the things he draws is pretty much exclusively his.
They're probably like: Oh Ariga's such a nice guy he won't be pissed off if we let people use his designs :3c
I hope to see some Ariga styled stuffs in there anyway *w*

It is also my personal opinion that since my entry looks better than their cover art, they should let me in. (But it's also my personal opinion that my entry looks better than their cover.)

Hypershell

People who publish fan-submissions tend to give all ends of the talent spectrum a shot, merely emphasizing the better ones, not posting them exclusively.

As far as I'm concerned this is as random as a lottery ticket.  The "judges" are probably just there to make sure the drawing follows the rules.
(to that end, I hope they're familiar enough with MM10 to know a Roboenza cure when they see one, or mine's going to look really wrong)

The Great Gonzo

Huh, and here I thought I'd already lost.

I probably still have.

Like lottery ticket? man I never won a lottery ticket.  :(

Sooo... it's 1st March finally.

I didn't get any email, predictable.

Or is it still 28th feb over there?

Proud member of Indigo tribe!

The Great Gonzo

Nothing on their site yet; maybe it's still February over there, or they're not announcing 'til later in the day.
