...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Nothing new at all, now, AMERICAN Phoenix speaking full sentences? That will be a first.
For the love of God.
Get them good voice actors, because those english ones in the games make me worried. Unless I'm just wrong.

Anyway, I LOVE THE MUSIC from the trailer. This can't come fast enough, and I sure hope they'll release a full OST of this thing.

Phoenix Wright in glorious animated form makes me hope that there will be an Anime at some point or another.
Preferably not by Studio Deen.

I haven't played any of the Professor Layton games, but now I kind of want to in preparation for this.

I honestly think they should have went with regular 2D art sprites. The models sort of take away the spirit and charm of both their series. These 3D models in particular look very low-quality actually, considering what the system is capable of. But story is what really matters for a genre like this, so it's satisfactory at the very least.

Fans will still buy it and eat it up. What difference does it make? Plus, you don't have to pay the artists as much. Win-win.

Rin

Good God, those models look awful.
But hey, who cares right? They game will be gold, right?
It will be but we'll probably not see it in english or any other language besides japanese.

Krystal

The models don't look too bad in the caps, usually it's the animation that makes or breaks it for me. The style mash still looks weird to me. There are NPCs in either style looking completely out of place with each other...Oh well.

There ya go. It's the TGS trailer. Apparently, there's a chance this will be localized, as Level 5 has some pull on it due to Layton being a main part of it.

Here's hoping the anime cutscenes will be plenty. I love animated Nick.

Phi

I'll admit that looks better in action than I would've thought. But I still feel like it won't be the same without the brilliant sprite-work that the AA series portrayed... I dunno, blame it on my fanboyism. :P

Hypershell

While I'll certainly agree that Ace Attorney is at its best in 2D pixel art, I think using character models for the crossover that can move and interact with each other helps to alleviate the style clash.

Plus, it'd look pretty stupid if the entire game was in 2D sprites, and the 3D effect just worked as a pop-out book. It'll work better this way, and both cartoony styles will be assimilated better.

Hell no. You'd be surprised by how well 2D layers work out in stereoscopic 3D.

And if you played the 5th case in the first AA, you'd recall the instances where you could inspect and examine 3D objects/evidence. Really, for this crossover game, they could've even had you examine full 3D environments, with classic 2D sprites for dialog. But that's besides the point.

I've played classic games in 3D. They do work well, but it wouldn't be as such for a game with high definition sprites like Ace Attourney. It really does work better this way.

Mirby

Not to mention that, as we can tell from Mask of Miracle, Layton on 3DS will be 3D. Thus, since this is a 3DS game, even if AA had the good old sprites, there'd be definite clashing with Layton's new 3D appearance.

Does this mean that future AA games might go the 3D graphical route as well?
