"Poor performance, indeed!" makes me feel giddy for some reason...

Well, it doesn't matter, they speak English

Every single Japanese game, they speak English.
It wouldn't be a proper Biohazard/RE without the English. ^w^

I'm sure you can guess what this game is from the title alone.

"We can't stay out here. Head to the Police Station. It'll be a lot safer."

I'm still interested. ^^

Do not want. UC was fun for the first five hours, but it kinda trailed off from there.

Dammit, this should have turned out to be that RE2 remake rumor.

CephiYumi

well enough people complained about it not being in UC so I'm not all that suprised nya >w<
I am very interested ^^

Titled The Darkside Chronicles, UC2 is set in the world of Resident Evil 2, probably starring Leon and Claire and Ada and hopefully not Sherry. This raises a couple of interesting points, I think.

First, I wouldn't count on them remaking the entire course...

- In UC1, you get to explore the R.P.D. Precinct in an RE3 section and the recreation of Hunk's 4th Survivor mini-game, but that's just because they already had a model of the police station rendered for Outbreak File #2. I don't know if they had the entire thing, though.

- The factory shaft with the train (complete with the room where you activate the train and the one where Mr. X breaks the camera) got a next-gen makeover in REØ and it looked pretty, so they could use that.

- And in Outbreak File #1, the second scenario happens inside the Umbrella Lab seen at the end of RE2, complete with new rooms and corridors, so I guess that's something else they could borrow.

Only the sewer left, and since the sewer in RE2 is so generic and the Wii could get away with simpler visuals (turn lights off, give them a flashlight and pronto), it shouldn't take a lot of work... Then they could just steal some more stuff from Outbreak for the city.

Second, is it really only RE2?

I'm not a big fan of UC1 because it's so slow, but I can't dispute the fact that the game is bloody huge for a rail shooter. The Zero and RE1 scenarios are very long, there is one RE3 level alone that lasts half an hour, and there's the whole new Russia story with new areas. Then there are the secondary scenarios, which revisit the previous areas by different routes and through different eyes and such (for those who haven't played UC: one of them is about Rebecca and Richard in the mansion, then there's Ada giving her shoe to a Hunter, then there's Hunk, and the four or five Wesker scenarios where he plays god).

But I don't think RE2 alone would handle that. Maybe we'll get a couple of surprises there, perhaps a Code: Veronica or an RE4 scenario or two... here's hoping!

Of course not. Did everyone forget that after Capcom said that RE2 fans would be happy they said the same for Code Veronica fans? If that's not a confirmation for CV then I don't know what is.

Darkside Chronicles takes place in Resident Evil 2's Racoon City. It's September 29, 1998, and the city has turned to hell due to the effects of the T-virus. Players take control of Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy to deal with the undead in Umbrella Chronicles forced scrolling style.

Famitsu got a bit of commentary on the title from producer Masachika Kawata at Capcom and producer Kentaro Noguchi at Cavia, the game's development house.

The reason the game is not called Umbrella Chronicles 2, the two revealed, is that the enemy is no longer Umbrella Corporation. Additionally, the term "darkside" can be taken to mean that the game will provide a look at some of the unexplored areas of the RE story, along with the darker passages of the characters' histories . The game will also have more of a horror taste than the first.

While the two wouldn't state the specific titles that will be covered in the game, they did confirm that scenarios from games other than RE2 will definitely make the cut. Expect to see a variety of characters, including RE2's Shelly Birkin.

The general concept may be similar to Umbrella Chronicles, but the two producers stressed that the feel will be like that of a new game. One point of note is the "feeling of being there" that the game promises to offer, thanks to skilled camera work, some nice visual effects, and the fact that you can see your partner character on the screen in front of you. The game will also make use of the Havoc engine for realistic physics.

On the gameplay side of things, the two producers explained that replayablity is one of the focuses. However, they're also aiming to make the game more accessible as far as difficulty is concerned. Expert shooters needn't worry, though, as plans call for the dynamic difficulty system of RE4 and RE5 to be implemented here, meaning better players will end up with a tougher experience.

Your in-game partner character, who, as detailed above, will now be shown on the screen in front of you, is a key to playing the game. It appears that you'll only see the partner character on the screen during single player mode, though. Two player mode will leave nothing but glass between you and your undead foes.

RE: Darkside Chronicles is currently 35% complete and is without a final release date. Expect to hear more on the game from Capcom in the near future

CV is a given, and Degenaration is reasonable. I just wonder if we could get Outbreak or RE4 too.

VixyNyan

Well of course this is the Clairetastic episodes, and tons of Leon-related action, just as much as the first UC focused on Chris and Jill. ^^

Apparently there'll be an evade command.

Doesn't sound so bad actually. I'll give it a shot. I'm super excited to hear the ports are coming over, never had the chance to play the GCN remakes :)

Acid

I don't like the whole "Rail shooter" thing.

Can't they just take RE2 and update the graphics?
