OK, this is definitely something that needs a mention no matter what you may think of the company, the systems, individual brand loyalties or the direction that Nintendo as a company has been taking. Honestly, I don't even think that console sales are a topic that RPM really cares about, but this is just awe-inspiring. The November NPDs rolled out a few minutes ago on teh GAF (crashing the damn site with traffic in the process ) and in a one month period of time, Nintendo sold:

Wii - 2.04 Millon
DS - 1.57 Million

And as if that wasn't bad enough, they also had a huge showing in terms of actual game sales:

Mario Kart is especially impressive for it's continued sell through, total sales numbers (below) and it's placing as the 5th biggest and most sold holiday game this year although it was released much earlier.

First of all, I'd personally like to commend Jelly on the awesome name for the title of this thread.  Well well thought out and awesome, Jelly! 

Man though, this just makes the Nintendophile in my smile with a big happy PB grin.  Now, with the thought of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, the TMNT fighting game, Wii Punch Out, and that samurai sword slasher game for which the name escapes me, plus other games I remember seeing, the Wii looks like it will continue to make mii happii for a while. 

And as Acid said too.  Exclusive Dragon Quest for Wii will probably be nuts!

PS3 numbers are awful. Substantially down YOY despite major software launches.

Wii's January - November: 8.05 million units.
PS2's best ever January - December: 8.39 million units.

Wii Play is now best-selling single SKU in tracked history by a country mile.

It's a little late to try and make the Wii the standard for FPS' (which it should be), but the MotionPlus attachment should help the image of the next console.

Can I be really honest here? At this point in time, I am really just waiting on MotionPlus to hit the mass market just because of the possibilities. In some my free time in the past, I actually tinkered with the Wii Remote & Nunchuk quite often (go go Tech Club at university ) and just learning some of the things I did there, I was amazed at how come no one could implement them in a game or two. Now, we're getting 1:1 [tornado fang]ing movements... It's driving the inventor side of me insane.

Then there's an educated rumor going around that Nintendo didn't have anything ready for this year's holidays because all of their development shifted to MotionPlus development. I am rabid right now for more news. Surely this is all a good sign.

I think he means Dynamic Slash, although there were no samurais involved there. Also some incredibly saddening news. Valkyria Chronicles, one of the best damn games of this gen bombed hard. It sold a measly 33K in the entire month that it was available in the US.

You shitting me? GameSpot gave it a high score, what did the other sites give? I may've not played it myself, but from videos i've seen it looks pretty damn good. Maybe people looked the other way because it was too "different," or some BS like that.

Mind you I don't care much for review scores, but the game as far as I know scored in the high to mid 9 range, a testament to it's quality and yet it was still horribly overlooked.
