I'd say Sonic Colors would be the bigger contender for that.
An actually good 3d Sonic after years of princesses, guns and werewolves.

Well, MML3 and DNF being released were to be signs of the apocalypse, I think... DNF especially.  I don't think we have enough evidence to assume anything about MML3 yet, though.

Somehow, I dont think so. It doesnt seem as "unbelievable". more like, it was obvious Sega would go there eventually once everything else stopped working out.

A decade of skepticism forces me to point out that "real" and "inevitable" are not the same thing in game development.  Games do get canceled.

Nevertheless, I'm still hoping.  This is some of the most promising DASH/Legends gossip we've had in a long time, so I'm REALLY hoping something comes of itpreferrably on Wii or 3DS.

Dude, if Legends 3 actually made it to development then got CANCELLED?  Every Legends fan in the entire [tornado fang]ing WORLD would march on Capcom HQ and kick Inafune's ass.

More or less, although the severity of the resulting riot would probably depend on what stage of development it was at.  Is the game in concept?  Tech demos?  Functional engine?  99% ready for release but shafted to hype some other project until somebody leaks it over the internet?

On my end, I consider MegaPhilX's Mega Man Unlimited to be filling up that position (it was originally gonna get released in March, then wisely switched to not having a deadline anymore), but that's neither here, nor there. -u-'

Still, it'd be sad if the dream of a MML trilogy conclusion doesn't come true...X(

On a side note, we can't play games if the world ends, you sillies. 8D Let's not compare game release likelihood to that concept. I prefer the idea of Heck freezing over more than once. [eyebrow]

Certainly Mario World is spiritually SMB4, but I've not seen any documentation of that title.

EDITS: Nobody seems to actually list that subtitle (lousy GameFAQs), but it is on the packaging:

During the backlash against the gaming journalism community for their indifference to NSMBWii, a lot of its fans referred to it as SMB5 (apparently relegating the DS game to the "Land" category, I guess).

Incidentally, Yoshi's Island in Japan is "Super Mario - Yoshi's Island".  No "World 2".

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.
