Don't know why I never noticed this before.  I've always found little references like this interesting; apparently the artists were fans of Toru Nakayama's work and wanted to have a little homage to him.

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

How did you even notice that? I mean I can see it now that you point it out, but...

To me, it stood out rather easily.  I've seen the Elpizo scene a few times so it wasn't hard to tell that Archie was referencing it. IMO the Zero cutscenes are the most memorable ones in the franchise barring Legends.  That and the above cutscene kinda freaked me out when I first saw it.

@Align: Sheesh, they practically copied those panels to the letter!  I recognized it when I first saw it, but I didn't realize that they were that thorough with it. 0_0

That scene was drawn by Jon "WB" Gray. He explained in his site that he was playing Zero 2 at the time and that Elpizo's transformation was his inspiration for that page.

To this day I still don't know what part of Elpis' body this is supposed to be.

I caught that too, I just wasn't sure if anyone else had. xD  While we're at it, here's one from the same issue:

Wow.  I was catching up on the old "overpowered Knuckles" story and somehow I still missed that.   o-O

WB is far from my favorite Sonic artist, so I tend to skim through his stuff.  Still...I'm amazed I didn't see that.

Not too recent, but not too old.

Besides, this comic is from the period where everything sucked [parasitic bomb] in Sonic comics.
I'm not surprised by this act of ripping off.
YES. It's not a reference. It's ripping off.
Fools.

Like the comic of that Simmons kid which is ripping off Bleach?

Sonic #141 was released on October of 2004, about a year after MMZ2 was released.

MMZ2 is seven years old?

Oh god where has time gone? I feel so old.

Man speaks truth.  Sonic comics got good again around the time they knocked down the Chaos Emerald count to just the seven multi-colored ones (I'm not saying that MADE it good, it's just coincidence; in fact they screwed that point up pretty quickly as Shadow got two green Chaos Emeralds in the first Universe arc).

They just changed editors again, so I'm hoping we're not in for a relapse.  *crosses fingers*
