I know there's a (really really really old) Dead Rising topic, but instead of bringing back a topic whose last thing was "possible footage of game", let's restart over by talking about the new pre-game DLC chapter for the new Dead Rising game.

My first impressions are positive. Now, for anyone who knows me, with games I enjoy, I like to take the bad stuff out of the way first. So let's see...

- You take too damn long to level up. This can be annoying.
- Yes, the time limit is back. (But the story's much better, easier to follow, logical and the design/save points make sense now.)
- Area's really tiny. (but well used)
- Framerate doesn't seem as smooth as the original.

All of this seems minor compared to how the game handles. The gameplay and overall animations seem better, the weapon handling as well, and one thing to note... the survivor AI is VERY improved. Yes, it still has the stupidity of any gaming AI, but this time around, they can actually defend themselves and follow you more easily. The new kinds of weapons are really fun to use, although the items are hard to find, and this prologue shows us a very tiny area, which is easily exploreable but it's taken advantage of in the game quite nicely. The boss at the end of the prologue seems fairer and more balanced than some of the psychopaths in the first game (those [tornado fang]ing snipers, god dammit) and the whole game seems like a typical Capcom sequel, improving upon certain things from the original.

Oh, and there's a Protoman cardboard standup you can beat up zombies with.

I wouldn't want to damage to Protoman cardboard standup. If anything, that needs more protecting that the other people.

Nope, not included in the game.

And YES, worth getting. It's amazing, you get plenty of knowledge on how the whole game will work, a boss fight, multiple endings, tons of survivors to rescue and a wide enough area to explore for awhile.

For 5 bucks, it's one hell of a deal.

(I think I saw the Blue Badger there too)

Awwww, looks like ps3 isn't getting it (or at least isn't listed yet).  I only have a JP 360 and play-asia says the US version of the main game is only US compatible (unlike the first one) so I'm assuming the DLC will be the same way ; ;

Actually P-A says its unknown so *shrug* o.o

Never mind, it's download so I guess it's fine ^^;;;;;
Guess I'll have to get the 360 version of the main game now if stuff carries over

It's 360 exclusive, yes. And Case Zero isn't out on Japan yet because of some problem they had with the japanese rules for trial games of XBLA.

If you've got an american account, then just download it.

I got the Ending A first time I finished it, but I'm a Dead Rising veteran, and know the ins and outs of playing a game like this. You can NOT dilly-dally, exploration is very important, and the survivors can always be conciliated with the main missions.

It's been I awhile since I played the first one but I did 100% everything in that, I probably won't get a good grade first time I finish this though  XD

It's okay, it's a game meant to be replayed anyway.

Just remember to save and stock up before using the Zombrex. Boss fight. Just saving you alot of frustration in case you don't remember to save for awhile. =P

I'll just post this here.

5:21 Capcom announced Dead Rising Case: West
5:22 It is an epilogue to the series. The game features Dead Rising 2 hero Chuck Greene -- *and* Dead Rising hero Frank West.
5:23 A short trailer showed Chuck Greene standing over Fortune City.
5:23 He says he must prove his innocence.
5:23 And he says he has someone to help him. That is Frank West.
5:24 The game is an Xbox 360 exclusive -- a downloadable title.
5:24 It takes place after the events of Dead Rising 2.

From Kotaku's Capcom TGS Live Blog.

Edit: Dead Rising: Case West trailer

Basically it's everything we want from an ACTUAL DR story. Links between DR1 and DR2, and fun co-op with Frank.

...dibs on the guy who covers wars.
