Payne saw Giovanni's slight change in expression, and turned to see Mewtwo doing a facepalm. Pointing towards Mewtwo...

"I think Mewtwo's reaction pretty much answers your question, Mr. Wright."

[Quickman]

Giovanni's smirk widened. "Mewtwo looks like it might know something.  Perhaps we should ask it."

[Mirby]

(i forgot what the point of the trial is D:)

[Phi]

"I'm afraid the prosecution has brought up a rather curious piece of evidence, Mr. Wright; one that I'd like to know more about, myself." The Judge crossed his arms and paused.

"If you cannot bring up a concrete objection, Mr. Wright, I see no other choice in the matter. Well?" He glared at the defense.

(Early classes tomorrow. I'm turning in.)

[Quickman]

(I think we're losing the point of the trial. D:  It originally was to get Mewtwo to be relinquished to Team Rocket.  Now it's become "let's dig every single skeleton out of Mewtwo's closet!"  Payne has dragged us down a hell of a tangent.)

[Dr. Wily II]

(He is a bumbling GENIUS! )

[Sakura Leic]

(That's why he's a terrible lawyer, so many god damn tangents.)

[Phi]

(Dammit, Payne! *tosses gavel at his head*)

[Dr. Wily II]

( HE WILL FOREVER TORMENT ROOKIES!!)

[Sakura Leic]

(He needs to retire.)

[Quickman]

(The only way I can see this tangent working for the prosecution is if it leads right back to Giovanni being the only one capable of controlling Mewtwo.  However, the question remains... Can Giovanni control something that can control the weather by faking a power only certain Legendaries have with another power?  Hey Rayquaza, Mewtwo can do what you can do... with telekinesis.)

[Sakura Leic]

(Yeah I see no point in this to be honest, it doesn't really help anyone and Mewtwo isn't that bat [parasitic bomb] crazy anymore.  Besides he didn't kill anyone during the incident, and if we go by the Japanese Version Mew made things worse.)

[Mirby]

(Eh, court of law. No tangents allowed since they aren't going anywhere that is relevant to the trial)

"My objection is that these random tangents have no bearing on the trial at hand. The whole reason of the trial is to see who should have ownership of Mewtwo; Giovanni or Ms. Shanks. Instead, we're currently trying to find every dark secret of Mewtwo's even though it holds no bearing on the actual case! I've presented evidence that shows that Giovanni isn't fit to care for Mewtwo, evidence that shows just how depraved he is in his pursuit of an ultimate weapon. Prosecutor Payne, meanwhile, is trying to discredit witnesses that I've called up and wasting the court's time. Really, this should be an open-and-shut case now; why should we humor the court with something that, quite frankly, is completely irrelevant?" Phoenix explained. "Ms. Shanks has treated Mewtwo like an equal, while Giovanni has treated Mewtwo like a tool. I wouldn't be surprised if Giovanni had even told Mewtwo that they could never be equals, actually."

(Ok, ok. To be honest, Payne is on a rope, and he's just desperately trying to get Mewtwo to crack and end this case.)

[Mirby]

(Like Phoenix is gonna let that happen!)

"Face it, Payne. You've lost! Oh and tell your brother Gaspen I said hi, will you?"

[Quickman]

(Yeah, I want this trial to end, too.  Let's get to the closing arguments, the Judge gives his ruling, and everyone goes home.  I'm shipping Mewtwo and Quickie to Hoenn and ducking out of the RP.)

[Phi]

After several seconds of silence, the Judge spoke, "Hmm, that is quite a convincing objection, Mr. Wright. Even I briefly forgot what this trial was for, despite taking my daily dose of iron and vitamins."

He shook his head, "I suppose you don't bluff your way through all trials, after all. Sorry, Mr. Payne, I'm afraid I cannot accept that report."

[Mirby]

"There's also the fact that he was trying to discredit Domino when the testimony that proves just how unfit Giovanni is to take care of Mewtwo wasn't from her at all. It was a waste of time. At least my bluffs and tangents actually lead somewhere," Phoenix replied.

[Sakura Leic]

"Finally someone's making that stupid dumbass shut up." Sakura sighed.

[Dr. Wily II]

"But... But... But!!"

Payne was flailing madly, but deep down he knew he lost. To Phoenix Wright. Again.

"Fine!! Mewtwo was created thanks to my client, and he has the right to own him!!"

(I hereby humbly apologize for dragging this past its expiration date. *bows*)

[Quickman]

(And I apologize for taking this in a direction no one wanted to go.  Hence why immediately after this, I'm done.)

[Dr. Wily II]

(I'm getting a bit of a Busy World vibe, but maybe it's just me. With Mewtwo and Quickie gone, there isn't much for me either. So maybe I'll round it up too.)

[Phi]

(I'm gonna miss playing the Judge.

I have no reason to stay after the ruling, so it's adiós to me, as well. I'll hand down the verdict when I get back from classes... which may take a while, because I arrive home at 6.)

[Quickman]

(If anyone heads to Hoenn (though I'm considering Sinnoh due to their... looser views), I may join back up, but after this?  Yeah, wrapping up, and getting those two on a plane.  Not sure what to do with Domino, though there are a couple hanging plot threads that may never be resolved.)

[Phi]

There was a long silence in the courtroom. The atmosphere was so intense, you could practically hear everyone's thoughts frantically rummaging around their head. Everyone seemed to know what the verdict would be, but that didn't stop them from being on edge.

The Judge shut his eyes and reviewed everything in his head. Soon after, he opened them and glared at both the defense and prosecution.

He finally broke the silence, "Mr. Payne and Mr. Wright. You both put up a valiant fight. But like any battle, there can only be one winner. I have thoroughly studied the evidence and heard everyone's testimony with open ears and an open mind. With this trial finally at a close, I have established a verdict."

The Judge cleared his throat, "The court hereby finds the defendant, Mewtwo..."

NOT GUILTY
