"A human who was currently transformed into a Mewtwo, and with the transformation all the defensive stats that went along with it! When Mewtwo attacked Carr, it was the same as Mewtwo attacking another Pokemon! Carr wasn't human at the time, therefore it cannot be said that Mewtwo attacked a human!"

[Dr. Wily II]

Payne shook his head, still maintaining his previous pose.

"So, you are saying that it was a Pokemon Battle!? That was no battle, it was a brawl!! I ask of you. If it happened in Vermilion City instead of Route 11... Can you imagine the sheer mayhem? Can you imagine the property damage? CAN YOU IMAGINE THE CAUSALITIES!?"

[Mirby]

"This is not the place to discuss hypothetical situations that we know didn't happen! All told, it was a Pokemon battle. No less, it was to save his family from one who was attacking them!"

[Dr. Wily II]

Payne shook his head again.

"Harmed? They were not harmed! They willingly followed!"

[Mirby]

"Mr. Payne, harm doesn't need to be physical. Carr was disguised as Mewtwo just to trick those poor Pokemon into willingly following him. The harm was mental, damage that wasn't visible on the outside but still very real!"

[Dr. Wily II]

Payne slightly grinned at Phoenix's objection.

"Who's making hypothetical statements now? Mental harm? How can you be so certain that this was the case!?"

[Mirby]

"If you want certainty that they were being controlled, how about we ask someone who can confirm it for us! Your Honor, if I might call Mewtwo to the stand!"

(Oh come on, you all knew it was leading up to this)

[Quickman]

The warden clapped Mewtwo on the back.  "Now's your chance."  He busied himself with removing the cuffs and sitting them aside.  "If you can control yourself without being restrained, all the more better."

Mewtwo nodded and waited for the judge's word.

[Dr. Wily II]

Payne coughed at the mention of Mewtwo taking the stand. He turned to face Giovanni, only to see the man sitting solemnly, eyes closed. Payne turned back, and began to wipe his brow, a burning sensation in his throat and gut.

[Quickman]

Giovanni heaved an irritated sigh, then finally opened his eyes.  He took a drink from his bottomless coffee mug and looked to Payne.  "When the time comes, locate and push each and every one of Mewtwo's buttons.  It will crack.  The beast has a pretty solid mental history."

He looked to Officer Jenny.  "I would advise you to keep your wits about you and not storm the stand.  Mewtwo is quite capable of defending itself, and you would be an ant against a boot."

[Dr. Wily II]

Payne nodded slowly, while Officer Jenny tsk'd aloud.

This will be a long cross-examination.

[Phi]

The Judge stroked his beard. "Mewtwo, huh? This should be interesting, or, as the youngsters say: this will be a dope!"

The bailiff scratched his head, walked over to the judge and whispered into his ear to correct him.

"Huh? This will be... dip? Dope? Ah, of course! Yes, I mean, this will be dope!" The Judge exclaimed proudly.

*ahem* "Anyway, the court accepts Mewtwo as a witness. Please come up to the stand."

Meanwhile, Meekins was walking back to his seat, and muttered to himself, "Never again, Meekins. Never again."

[Quickman]

Mewtwo stood and brushed by Meekins on his way up to the stand.  He glanced at the microphone, but didn't adjust it.  The stand itself was obviously built for average size humans, and Mewtwo was significantly taller than that at his 6'7" height.  He placed both hands on the stand before him and waited.

[White-Jet]

Merrick stepped off the stand, barely concealing Meowth as he sneaks back into the audience to avoid any unwanted controversies surrounding Yan-Yan's attempt to speak through Tarot Skitty's primary Tarotmorphose abilities.

[Mirby]

"Thanks, Mewtwo. We've heard all the other sides of these stories, from all types of angles. However, we seem to have neglected to hear what your side of it was. Perhaps you'd care to enlighten us a little bit? Surely there's far more to what happened that an we've heard so far."

[Quickman]

Mewtwo nodded. "Where would you prefer that I begin?  The story is quite long."

[Mirby]

"Let's address the Route 11 incident first."

[Quickman]

"Yes, that," Mewtwo nodded.  He cleared his throat, though it was a merely some habit he picked up from somewhere.  "When I had first learned of the incident, I was currently in Fuchsia City, due to some other circumstances.  I had learned of the incident through the television news.  It was through that that I had learned of the brainwashing of my family."

He paused for a moment, noting the stenographer typing furiously to keep up with him.  "Prior to that, several years ago, I had sent my family out into the world, separately, so that they could live their lives as they so chose.  We were not to see one another.  Yet, Carr had located them.  He had found each clone and bent them to his will, using my image.  This upset me greatly."

[Dr. Wily II]

Payne interjected.

"Each and every one of them? Are you THAT sure?"

(I find myself suddenly very tempted to have Obsidian rip off what Team Plasma did at the end of Black and White once this trial is over, for some reason. )

[Pyro]

Pyro popped his head up from the crowd opposite Giovanni. He grinned at the Rocket boss and waved before ducking back down.

Mewtwo corrected himself. "Carr was unable to find the Nidoqueen and her offspring.  Whenever I was finally brought into the Institute, I had seen the other clones, in crates, many stacked upon each other."

He again cleared his throat for no discernible reason and changed the subject. "Eventually, I was deemed well enough to leave Fuchsia, as I had been there while fighting an infection.  Due to extenuating circumstances, my departure required a police escort and I was taken directly to Route 11.  There, I had seen the path of destruction, with many of my clones concerning themselves with the collateral damage.  They initially reacted to my presence with shock, until they realized that they had all been played by an impostor."

Mewtwo paused for a long moment to collect his thoughts and control the anger that was starting to bubble to the surface.  Now was not the time to become enraged.  He had to think about the safety of his family. "After a bit, I had located and engaged the impostor in battle."
