Hm, judging from the comments he made on the video, he really seems to have enjoyed playing Zero. That's ALWAYS a good thing.

Oh, by the way, was I the only one who couldn't help but laugh at this?

You, sir, have successfully polished a turd to almost mirror sheen. It's such a pity they didn't cast you (or any of the other X series cast) in the ZX series - the voice acting there is almost as bad as X4's.

Were you even approached with the job?

LucasGilbertson (1 day ago)
No I'm not even sure me or my studio was considered for the job at all. If I see the dude who did Zero in ZX I'll break his kneecaps

Hahahaha, it's good to know he has a great sense of humor.

But I liked the guy that voiced Model Z...    :'(

Flame

he was the guy who voiced Zero in X7... I liked that Zero voice. it was much more in tune with his Jap voice.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

And [tornado fang], why the hell can't X EVER keep one voice actor whether it's Japan or US? I really liked Gatha's work as him. I swear someone has a voodoo doll of X and keeps shoving nails on him. (heart-ripping notwithstanding)

'Cause it's a generic male role and a fairly stable platform of a series to launch peoples' VA careers with.

X hasn't even had a stable voice pitch, much less accent.

Ramzal

Hm. His redub was pretty good. His emotion was on point and he didn't do so much "I'm choking on my own feelings" with Zero. The thing about Zero--flat out is that he's a killer. For someone who's killed or is constantly in an environment where he can be killed, the feelings of someone close to him dying is minimized compared to someone who's had a peaceful life. So his way of telling her to hang on was on point.

Also not to drag something out but just to straighten the record.

QuoteIris is just talking quietly; doesn't seem too dead/dying.

As someone who spars a lot, and pain is a large factor in what I do, I can say that's normal. When your body reaches a certain point in how much damage it's taken in a fight, your voice tends to lower. Iris--being in a fight to the death and was just a center of an explosion that happened to her, it's highly understandable why she isn't talking very loud.

She's in a world of pain. The fact that she can talk at all tends to be a feat in itself.

Hypershell

Well, it's hard to gauge Iris because we haven't heard Ashley Schroeder speak normally.  So there's no basis of comparison.

That being said, I think, "I wanted to live in a world where only Reploids exist" was a little too fluid for someone in pain/near death.  Otherwise she's not too shabby.

running through the comments, I found a new sig quote. 8)

EDITS:  You know that talk about trying to harass him into redubbing the whole game so somebody could figure out how to hack it?
Well, I got a little impatient.

By the by, I'm a little worried. Since Mark Gatha has now officially left Ocean Group (at least that's what's going around on /m/) to pursue a medical career (as stated by Gilbertson himself; how the hell to you get from voice actor to doctor?!), that will mean if there is going to be any future X series game, whether X9, CM2 or another IHX, he won't be doing X again. He already wasn't available to dub Domon Kasshu in the Gundam Musou series. Great, another actor change is at hand.

EDIT by DZ: Career, my friend. Career. Not carrier.

Satoryu

at first, i didn't really think about this. but now that you bring it up, i'm kind of worried. probably because i don't know a lot of Ocean's talent aside from a few names. some could work as X. like Brad Swaile and Kirby Morrow i think (the guy who voiced Miroku in Inuyasha). other other name i recall is Richard Cox, who wouldn't work as X at all.

What happens in Vegas stays on Youtube. I also stream on Twitch from time to time.

Flame

*sigh* X will never be able to balance his hormones will he. his voice shall be forever changing. :(
oh why. in reality, I didnt mind his X7 voice. only problem was the acting and slightly misplaced emotion.

At first I was like "Hey, this voice really works".

10 minutes into the game whenever X began speaking I was throwing my hands to the sky and yelling "SHUT THE [tornado fang] UP!".

The guy couldn't act for [parasitic bomb]. It was nigh monotone. Literal monotone.

Guys, please let me know when did Gwen Stacy getting retroactively impregnated with Goblin Twins solve any contradiction whatsoever and didn't create a whole set of new ones. TTFN

Anyway, who's the one to honor for this? Well, DZ obviously put it on the site, but who asked him? Hypershell?

Anyone checked the frontpage yet?

Zero says HELLO

Shiki Tohno

There are three clips in all. See if you guys can catch all three -- they load randomly each time you load the front page. XD

Phi

Just heard all three voice clips. Really kickass, If you ask me.

I suggested the idea, Protodude forwarded it to Lucas, and then I got in direct contact with Lucas and made a few suggestions and he made a few suggestions himself and we agreed on something random and he sent me the resulting file of said randomness this morning. :)

I didn't think so.  X7's was a lot lower than ZXA's.

Just to clarify this, I have not had any direct contact with Lucas besides his YouTube comments, nor was I involved in RPM's clips (though I kinda figured based on past discussions that someone would take the opportunity).  That being said, I have my own reasons for watching my inbox like a hawk, but I can guarantee nothing.
