I got it as soon as I hear dit was out. Wanted to get it for PS3, but realized it didn't come out for PS3 till later. So I got the 360 one. The controls didnt suffer though since dash is a separate button.

It is AWESOME. Looks, sounds, plays great. Awesome maneuverability with running, double jump, and air dashing. Awesome, aweosme game. And yeah, Sato is right, get the samurai chick. I didn't bother getting Harley btw.

I played Rising through to completion with a friend in local co-op.

I got $20 for my birthday, so I'll probably use it to buy a MS Points card to buy this game. I got friend on my Xbox Live account whose playing this game, too and I want to help him kick some ass.

I just bought this game 15 minutes ago with Sayuri into the game's roster, and I have to say using a her sword is quite badass. Thank you, Sato! >w<

If anyone wants to play this game with me, my Gamertag is AmethystViper.

Sorry for triple posting, but Leviathan came up for DLC recently, and I was wondering if he's worth buying or not like Harley.

Quote from: Xbox Live Marketplace
Bahamut’s defection to the Rebellion stunned everyone, no one more than his chief rival in the Empire’s army, Leviathan. Beneath the bitter rivalry was a deep respect, and so the questions gnawed at him: Why did he leave? How could he betray us? Why did he choose that path?

  • Base Attributes: Only one weapon slot
  • Available Attributes: Moonsault (backflip), Grenade Throw, Sliding Attack
Source: http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Leviathan/42a2a8a4-12f6-42dd-bb19-9a4cd8792c9c

[spoiler=Leviathan's stats]
I hear on the message boards at GameFAQs that he starts with 1 HP but he's one of the fastest characters in the game. His grenades are supposedly weaker than a Lv. 1 Crush Gun (Grenade Launcher) but the firing rate when he jumps is quite fast.[/spoiler]

Still, I'm waiting on Brad Fang's and Browny's triumphant return.

He sounds different enough to make him interesting. But at the same time he seems very technical. And yeah, 1HP and 1 weapon slot, so I would never use him in Arcade. I want to see footage of him before I consider buying him, though.

After Hard Corps was one of the fastest games I've ever played, this game seems so cumbersome and slow, it annoys me to no end.

I wasn't very pleased by it either. The character designs kinda frustrated me, and it seemed too anime-ish for what Hard Corps used to be. All of the manly mood is gone.

What are you talking about? Hard Corps was anime through and through. And it's only slow if you're not running the entire time.

The original game could be fast all the time without a damn run button. Your character moves like molasses otherwise.

And I'm sorry, but i don't see any anime in this.

I do however, see PLENTY of anime in this:

The environments look bland and unimaginative and the levels themselves don't seem as fun. The original Hard Corps had tons of HOLY [parasitic bomb] moments happening all the time. Not this one.

Check the character art for the game. Hell, Sheena's character portrait in that screen is in the same style.

I think this game has plenty of wow factor. Maybe not quite as much as CHC, but it's on par with the majority of the series.

In retrospect, Uprising isn't very much like the first Hard Corps. The only things they share are some of the characters and the life bar. Otherwise, it takes more from Contra 3 and Shattered Soldier, while introducing a lot of it own unique stuff.

Oh, and about the lack of manliness, CHC is less manly than HCU. Unless you're into Fang. Otherwise, Harley has him beat. DAT POMPADOUR.

Character art = NOT GAME.

Hard Corps looks the same as all Contras to me. Only more hardcore. Heck, it seems more manly due to the use of stuff like ruined cities, metal enemies with angry faces, explosions everywhere...

Uprising looks like a [tornado fang]ing rainbow. The characters are all nice and neat, all of the levels take place in widely colorful and bright scenarios, and I'm very annoyed about the needless designs they have.

Character art = NOT GAME.

That's ignorant. The art used in the game has to come from somewhere. Or do you think game designers just draw a sprite first and worry about the details later? Cause that's not how it is. Characters are drawn on paper before they're turned into pixels or polygons. And as technology advances, the characters in the game more strongly resemble their original designs. This holds true for Hard Corps. Just look at the character portraits. That's anime, if a bit muddy due to the Genesis' limitations.

Still nope. Because when you're playing the game ITSELF, it doesn't look anything like anime. And even the character portraits have little resemblance to begin with. The game in itself, what HAPPENS in it, has no anime style whatsoever. The whole thing looks unmistakeably western.

And if you look at Uprising, everything has this new anime style which every single damn company uses nowadays. Which makes all of the characters cute-looking. Kinda sickens me for it to be used on Contra.

Except it is anime. It's just a different style of anime than ASW uses. An older grittier style. Something more akin to the American comic feel Contra 3 had, but still Japanese.

When it comes to the actual game, the only thing that could remotely be considered anime-style would be the character portraits, and even that doesn't look much. What matters is the end result, not what it originated with. You're honestly grasping at straws over what I said. Look at both games being played. Now tell me which looks like a bucket of pure manliness and which looks like it was made with a new anime style with many colors.

Hard Corps I wouldn't call manly. I mean come on, Ray doesn't even show his bare arms. And it's a really colorful game too. Genesis loves wacky colors. HCU is just brighter most of the time.

But whatever. Matter of taste. Let's just drop it.

So basically, you've just been trying to troll me all along.

Well played, son. But see, trolling is not making a complete idiot of yourself. What you did right here is simply go "Oh, I don't see the sky is blue, nope, the sky certainly isn't blue!"

No no no no no. See, that just makes you look like a jerk. What you need to do, is actually find the topics in which a certain person is irrational. And use logic in a way that they simply can't deny it. MAKE THEM be wrong. So you can troll for a long time. And then, it's not even trolling! Because you can still defend a valid point, but the other person will keep getting tied to their own flawed way to see things. [parasitic bomb] like things a person is a fan of. For example, if you tried and compared certain aspects of a bad game to Gunstar Heroes legitimately, I would have totally flipped my [parasitic bomb]. Because that's my favorite game, can't find flaws in it, blah blah blah. And I'd end up behaving irrationately. What you got here and in the Metroid topic, was just me dumping my knowledge on both situations, wasting my words, just so you can press on the same issue, and go "lawl, doesn't matter" in the end. You got me to care a few times, but it's ultimately wasted.

Try and fix it next time. Use suitable arguments so it can last all night. Just leash me or someone else on until it goes overboard. Never behaving irrationately, but showing the logical points as loudly as you can. That's the way to do it.

Has this ever happened to anyone playing Hard Corps: Uprising?

As I was clocking in 16+ hours into my game with 21 continues, I played my way through Arcade Mode and manage to finish it using up about 18 of them. After I finished the game I got back to playing it a few nights ago, playing Arcade Mode again but lost all of my lives and when I got to the continue screen, my continue count when from what would probably be 22 continues to 576 - WHAT THE [tornado fang]?!?!? How in the hell did this happen?! What's even more messed up is when I played Rising Mode a few hours ago with Sayuri on Stage 8 with all of my abilities turned off but Uprising R (because I was getting owned by this game) for kicks,  I lost 10 continues before getting into the final boss, lost my lives again, then my remaining continues went from 560 back to 576 - AGAIN!

Seriously, what the [tornado fang] is wrong with the continues with this game... -AC

Sounds like your game glitched with your save data.

It's not a glitch. If you play the game enough, you get 573 continues.

I'm assuming Continues are a bad thing?

I don't know, haven't played the game (no 360, y'know. PS3 version isn't out yet.)

Yeah but he said it went from 22 to 500+ all of a sudden. Also he had settings changes he didn't do. Sounds like a classic data offset format glitch to me. One or more numbers got offset in the save file and it all fubarred.

No, that's actually what happens. He's not the only one to get it. A lot of people have already discovered the 573 continues phenomenon. You get it by playing the game to either completion or Game Over 100 times.
