I've been thinking about this all weekend long, and yeah I've finally come to the conclusion that Green Lantern was just not a good movie at all, but not for the heavy CG, but for the lack of a coherent, sensible story. What's sooooo sooooooo sad is that GL: Secret Origins, minus the Atrocitus & William Hand part, would have made such a perfect, downright flawless movie that it's frightening they didn't just use that.

Why is it Marvel seems to be getting it right with their movies, and DC just cant get it to work? Batman seems to be all they are getting right, and even then its a drastic re-interpretation.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Green Lantern was fun while watching it, but after I dissected it, there were a large number of flaws, including the pacing.  The pacing started out alright, then it meandered, then it got back on track, then it rushed the ending.  And let's not forget some continuity snags and the character designs that I didn't care for and the usage of decent Lanterns as cannon fodder (Isamot Kol!  WHY?!!)...

As for the CG, I expected it.  Hell, I was okay with it for the constructs, as the other way I'd make those would be cell animation.  Though Kilowog still had shifting weight maps.  It's as if the entire budget went to Tomar-Re.  He looked pretty decent.  Kilowog, though...

Because Batman is easy to do, and it depends. If it's not a Marvel Studio movie, some of them have been utter [parasitic bomb]. GL isn't that good, but it's in no way as bad as Marvel's "unwatchables" by a long shot.

Maybe DC will get it together some time. Movie bob reviewed GL btw. He hated it. Like, fan rage hated it. He brought up a good point though. Just start making them all the same universe like how Marvel is doing.

They're going too, most likely.

Recently so far it appears that Emerald Knights an animated GL movie, seems to be looking better than it's live-action cousin, which I plan to see tomorrow. If what I hear is correct for Kilowag, I fear for Mogo.  '>.>

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

They're going too, most likely.

With all the glaring continuity issues, I suspect that's prolly what's gonna happen.  They're gonna streamline it all to be a sort of "Ultimate" universe.  Though, I still think Salaak deserved at the very least a line or two.  He's pretty damn important!
...He's not in it.  Though, I did spy him during the credits!
Emerald Knights is all kinds of fantastic.

I can also say that the Nolan Batman flicks will not be a part of the DC Movie continuity. After the next one, Nolan's trilogy is done and DC will most likely reboot the Batman movie U. to fit with a Justice League flick.

That makes me wonder what they will do with the "Man of Steel" project Zack Sydner is directing. Will it be part of a DC movie-verse? I doubt it but it would be interesting.

I'm still waiting for my Superman movie starring Braniac as the villain and not reusing the same villains over and over.

I want my Flash movie!  And it had better have Captain Cold in a PARKA!  With a HOOD!  A fur-lined hood!  And it had better be blue and he had better have those snazzy shades!

Albino Captain Cold in a motorcycle jacket will not do.  I want my Eskimo cosplay!

Well, just got back from Green Lantern and is a bit dissapointed that things relating to the corps just to show that "they are there" and have almost half the movie as a cheap b-movie romance, though.. that Puzzle Fighter arcade game in one scene...  8D

Yeah, that was cute.  I could barely read the thing and I spent a while trying to discern the logo.  Screw the dialogue, screw any potential plot developments, I wanted to see what arcade cabinets were in the background! 8D

Such a shame too, since while I caught that little snippet, I tried to find Mogo during the credits (no idea where, since the shadows were obscuring the planets). I caught on to the arcade cabinet thanks to the ever-red bandana wearing SD Ryu on the arcade cabinet. Heh.

Though, why'd he (Hal) had to shout refrences to other things (such as "BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL!") just to use the lantern that recharges the battery in the ring is beyond me.

With all these lanterns in the crowd scenes at Oa, why didin't they throw in some of the more well-known lanterns in there.. oh wait, they didin't even defeat Mr. Yellow yet before Sinestro became engulfed with the power of fear (yellow). I also noticed they pulled a Micheal Bay with a mid-credits rise of a new threat scene.

Better late than ever greenie~

Hal was channeling a bit of Kyle Rayner with that.  It seemed to me that the writers were trying to mix the two a bit.  Of our Earthly Lanterns, Kyle is the nerdiest.

Mogo was really hard to spot.  He was toward the end of the credits roll, on the right side, and I only realized it was him due to his texture being a perfect band across his equator.  His ring landmass isn't seen, but the landmass across his equator was perfectly straight.  And only now do I realize how somewhat odd it is to refer to a planet by a gender...

As for Sinestro... The entire time, my mind was screaming "QWARD!  SHOW THE WEAPONERS OF QWARD!"  But, I get... that.  And that weird transparent membrane on the Guardians' heads?  What was up with that?  That looked terrible.  Seriously, they could have been done without CG.  You want short Guardians?  Slap a bald cap on a little person and have that actor spend two to three hours in makeup!  It would look much, much better.

Now that you mention it, it was almost as I feel I was sitting through an hour-long Xbox 360 video game cutscene with the CG's graphic quality constantly bouncing around in space.  XD

Please, this is 2011, Hollywood doesn't give a dick about believable effects if they can make what they consider passable on a smaller budget.

I wanna go back to the days where CG was only used when ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY as opposed to all the time.

CG is oftentimes more expensive, as the hardware needed to render single frames cost more than liquid latex.

From day one, I disliked the new uniforms and how they were CG with those veiny lines on them.

From the trailers, i noticed Hal Jordan seemed a bit too.. How do i say it, happy go lucky than normal. From what i know, Hal is always SRS BSNSS. its Kyle and Gardner who are always the cheerful ones. The casting of Ryan Renolds... mmeeeeeeh. He can pass as Jordan, but hes still... off.
