Is it as "WALKING GAME: THE WALKENING" as everyone makes it out to be?

Yes, you can walk freely around the different colonies in the game, until you press Z button to "target" nearby enemies.
Then you press A close to it to start fighting. ^^

No, what I meant was, does the game deserve all the criticism it's getting for the characters having to walk endlessly all the time? There seemed to be quite alot of distance to cover in the gameplay I've seen, with a few enemies to be fought.

I don't know anything about the criticism or opinions the game gets from people...
I like the game, I don't see anything wrong with it (yet). ^^;

You are the one that decides if you want to do the "Walking Game: The Walkening", or fight enemies.
If you don't press Z to target enemies, you can run around in the open field and be amazed at the beauty of the game.

There's also a arrow icon at the very top of the screen that shows you where to go next.
A number will go lower and lower the closer you get to your next destination. ^^;

When you fight, you can pick between the spells and attack moves you have with the D-pad and use with the A button.
They will recharge for a bit after you use them, so in the meantime, you can do regular attacks with A button. Jump with B button. xD

Does the game have anything similar to Fast Travel? And when I meant walking alot, was that there's a big distance between objectives, with few enemies to fight. It's at least what I've seen in videos. Comparable to say... Oblivion. If you've played it, the game features an entire continent of scenery, but it gets kinda frustrating to always keep traversing it, with few enemies along the way, although there are plenty of landmarks. Xenoblade seems to have quite alot of open world, tons of walking to do in it, with just a few enemies to fight along the way. Huge cities as well. So without a form of fast travel, the game might get a bit boring as you go on.

Again, only seen a few gameplay videos, so this is just speculation. I'm referring to this video in particular.

The character spends a good time walking before he has the chance to do anything. =P

Ah, cool. Well, the game does seem nice, and if it's got good sidequests, I might get it. It seems like some kind of japanese Oblivion.

I think they hang out more around /jp/. All of it is Touhou sometimes.

Second only to lasers, yoku blocks are the second thing I hate about the MM franchise, and quite frankly, this pattern in Rockman EXE WS is SO nearly unpredictable..

However, I did notice nobody ripped Snakeman, so I wrote a savestate for that purpose, so I can rip that snake. I'm at him now, MWSnap, do yer job!

I just can't handle Force Unleashed. Horribly built levels with low-res textures, enemies that are dumb as hell but appear in big numbers and chip away at your health from a distance, and pretty much some of the most painful platforming I've ever seen. I'm a Star Wars fan, but I'm gonna have to take a break from this and play it more tomorrow. Gonna pop in some Red Dead Redemption to get some good gaming on my veins. Then, maybe some Bayonetta.

Tales of The Worlds Radiant Mythology 2,although no English version yet....it was way better than 1......which most of the game had godawful terrible earpiercing BGM that made me stop playing it.......
