I looked and there was no topic existing.
If there is, link to it.
Mods, feel free to change the title to something better.

I will begin with some features and examples of games.

HD
At least 720p(real 720p, not stretched 480p. 1080p prefered.

Enough power to run Brawl at 120 FPS.
You know, just in case LCD TV makers wanna take that leap past 60Hz.

Eye/Head/Body Tracking
From something standing off to the side, like IR/non-IR cameras

More Axis
3 Accelerometers AND 3 Rotational Sensors(X,Y,Z+Rotation,Yaw,Pitch)

Higher Bandwidth Comms for controllers
Enough for 12 of what Wii uses it for now(Wii Remote+WMplus+1), but also have the ability to allocate it to many simple(low BW) control schemes(casual fishing games) or 1/2 complex(high BW) control schemes(multi-controller setups for full body control)

More Input Methods
Microphones, maybe, meh?

Built in Ethernet port
Damnit, why not? sheesh!

Rechargeable Batteries
Replaceable Li-Ions

More Standards
USB(charging, mass media, wired controllers), DVD(the Wii can do it, I've watched Gran Torino about 3 times over LAN)

Sell 1st Party USB-x Adapters
x=NES,SNES,N64,GCN controllers(they'll print money)

SDHC HW/eSATA/SMB Support

Moderated Homebrew Channel
Everything is run through a moderator to prevent piracy, but we still get awesome media players and stuff(If you wanna charge us for stupid [parasitic bomb], like half-assed MP3/AVI players, we'll just crack your system anyway and you won't even get money for the stuff that is worth money).

That is all for now. Maybe, if this gets more replies, I'll make a list or something.

Nintendo acquires Sega.
Nintendo uses Sega Arcade console for the fun games like Wii Sports, etc. Shovelware devs funneled to this cheaper console.
Then develops a high-powered console for the other fork of their strategy. Serious third-party developers latch onto this one.

Protoman Blues

To be honest, I would just be happy with being able to play classic multiplayer games online with my friends.  Mario Kart 64, StarFox 64 Battle Mode, and so on.  I would happily pay for the service.

Or they could make a good console and make all sorts of games for it.

I'm kinda hoping the next console transfers the Virtual Console titles over to an online-friendly format.

Judging by the average lifespan of a console, which is 5-6 years, we've still got at least another year before anything is officially announced regarding this. Then again, since Sony's keeping the PS2 alive because it's such a money maker, maybe Nintendo will do that with the Wii...

Your speculation is quite the downer.

Mirby

Hey, it's just speculation! And plus, the PS2 thrived while the PS3 was out, so there's nothing saying that Ninty won't announce the Wii 2 (or the Wuu as I call it) soon.

A game about pretending to receive blows would be awesome or a fighting with a bonus for pretending to be hit when you do.

Funny, I'm usually the one that's an annoying mix of imaginative optimism and analytical pragmatism. :\

I think the reason why the PS2's still alive is that the PS3 doesn't have backward compatibility. A few of the ones that were launched came with the compatitbility, but most today aren't.  Nintendo probably could've been assholes like Sony too and made the Wii like the PS3, and the Gamecube would probably still be alive today.

I wasn't even aware they were wanting to consider a Wii 2. Then again, looking at the way the DS line is being handled..

Let's speculate on the Playstation 9, while we're at it.

xnamkcor

Let's not and say we didn't.
You can make your own topic, but this is for Wii 2 stuff. Serious Business.

It would be nice for Wii 2 to focus on more technical aspects of a game console. I don't think it'll use BD, but at least come with DVD playback and HW MP4/H264 playback.

You know, when I see speculation that Nintendo's next console should follow what their competitors are already doing this generation (HD, multi-media, camera tracking), it shows a clear lack of understanding as to why the Wii is successful in the first place, not to mention Nintendo's general philosophy.

Wii2 will do something ass-backwards and off the wall.  God willing it will feature a nice processing/features upgrade, but that'll be icing on the cake, and not beefy enough to be the selling point.

Personally, I'm hoping they rethink their online approach.  It will NEVER be X-Box Live, Big N doesn't want to be a service-based company, but even so there's still a lot they could do to improve things.

I think after Brawl's poor sales and the general backlash, they're going to beef up online.

Although that wasn't really what made Brawl bad. Though it certainly contributes.

Jericho

Hmm, all I can say about the next Nintendo console is that it's going to pioneer one hell of a new idea this time. They said that power & specs alone aren't enough anymore to justify hardware upgrades (and I agree to an extent), but I certainly hope that next time around they aim to level the playing field so that folks who might be hooked by "the newness" and folks who just want a console with equal/close to equal technical prowess can be satisfied. Personally, I just want better online. Maaaybe an HDMI out since having one cord in & out of my stuff is always an awesome plus.

... Brawl sold more than Melee did in its lifespan in one year. Melee was the best selling Gamecube game with 6.7 (or something like that) million units.
