I always delete my project files a week after I'm done with them.
THEY TAKE UP TOO MUCH SPACE, and my HDD isn't exactly all that large anymore.

Actually, I got the inspiration for that one from some Summon Night critter

Never heard of it.

I like yours better.

This is definitely very useful! thanks for the links!

What he says.

Proud member of Indigo tribe!

Rad Lionheart

Well technically they don't take up all that much space, but they do accumulate over time and I have my HDD partitioned, so it adds up fast for me. (Each of my .riff files usually come up to about 40-80mb each.)

Yeah, I undestand that kind of situation. When your HDD are filled with pron and such. 8D
I'm joking XD

In some case. My .psd can be over 100mb in size.
As I always happy triggering on a new layer.

But the final PNG can be less than 1mb. (resize, mostly shrink down)

Well, I only know one way of coloring so far. What I always do is make the sketch and start erasing and shaping up the lines. Or some other times I just remake the lines again completely over the sketch in a separate layers.
After I´m pretty much happy with the lineart, I set the layer style to multiply and if I want the lineart to have a darker tone of the base color, I go to Image>Adjudgement>Levels (I use Photoshop). And at the output level bar I move the left pointer to the right, this removes the pure blacks.
And for coloring, I just set a base color on a layer below the lineart, and with a hard edged brush I start setting up the shading. After that, with the eyedropper I choose the color inbetween both, chance it to a slightly saturated color to give it some life and the then blend the colors with a slightly softer brush.
If you use a mouse, the best method to blend colors would be to set the opacity of the brush to around 20-30 and then pick the inbetween color and click like crazy.

Kinda long and unorganized post, if there´s anything specific you (or anyone) wants to ask, just ask away. I´ll try to be as helpful as I can.

Also, here´re some tutorials I always found REALLY helpful:
http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm (and since we are at it, here there is a link with some megaman fanart by the same guy http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/main.php?id=megaman)
And this one, which explains a lo better the lineart part: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=109491

Those tuts will be very useful for me.

As I only do anime shading.
I'm also trying to expand my painting skill.
Even now I'm still figuring how to do those kind of painting properly and incorporate it into my drawing style.

More stuff!
I edited my first post adding some sketches with a few Z/ZX bosses I plan to make digitally (some of them)

There is also this drawing of Pluto, for those who don´t visit the oekaki boards (shame on you!)

And to close this post, here´s an unfinished fanart of Spar from Breath of Fire 2

Protoman Blues

Wow, she looks incredible.  I sure hope you color her in.

KoiDrake

Will do sooner or later. I´ve been a bit busy lately, hence the lack of new stuff in here.

Emiri Landeel

Can I ask something?
Which program did you use to do the inking?
And what kind of brush did you use?

Just want to collect some info for the study.

KoiDrake

I tend to change that around depending on the kind of drawing. On the Spar drawing I used a hard brush with the brush size set to pen-pressure (I use a tablet) and 100% opacity. And when I want something a bit more detailed I set the pen pressure on the opacity instead, so I don´t have the same color everywhere, that way I can get darker lines depending on the light source. And in this last case, I use the eraser tool too to shape up the lines.
I always use Photoshop and the brush tool to do the inking and pretty much everything of the drawing. There are some people that use the pen tool too, but for me it feels a bit unnatural.

Emiri Landeel

Yeah, I did try pen tools to do the lineart once, not so impressed with the result.

I also use a Photoshop for inking, but rarely set the brush pressure. I always pick the brush from the preset. (Using hard round for the most)
As I use the tablet, the pen pressure is always do the auto adjust and I'm fine with it.

I just asked because your lineart is so sharp and shows no sign of shakiness. (Except the hair at the upper-right, but it just minor. Most of the lineart looks so crisp)
So, you have a good hand. I'm envious. :D

Thanks for sharing. Will eagerly waiting the result.

KoiDrake

I actually had some problems with the hair :P. The trick is to do really fast strokes, there are less changes to get shacky lines that way.
Thanks for pointing out that mistake btw, will fix that eventually when I get to the coloring stage. *goes to sleep*

Not really an update, but I just created a dA account (http://koidrake.deviantart.com/... duh) and decided to upload every decent [parasitic bomb] I have so far. So, yeah.. If anyone´s interested, I have some other stuff I haven´t uploaded here.

I´ll finish that Toadette... uhmmm, Spar drawing when I get the time btw.

Emiri Landeel

Cool.
I like your painting style.
They look less digital, which I'm considering as a good thing.

I don't have DA account myself, so I can't comment there.

A Breath of Fire 2 fan?

Always welcome.

I only had one Flickr account to drop everything in one place, just in case something happens to this PC. But the assholes blocked my gallery for non-registered users (no, there´s no porn in there yet)

And besides that BoF for PS2 that I never played, that series is one of my favourites.

then we have something in common

Rad Lionheart

I've only played Breath of Fire I and II, hope to play III on my PSP when it arrives.
It's been years since I last played any BoF though.

KoiDrake

Yeah, you should. Also, added both of you already.

Sub Tank

I like all the things you've drawn with lips.

Also that random MMZ boss.  Especially the coloring on it.

KoiDrake

Too bad there aren´t many of those :P

Ah KoiDrake, I am going to do a ZXA 8bit sequel that uses 'real full capacity' of FC/NES for a colobration with a friend in future.
By full capacity of FC/NES, I mean what couldve been achieved with enchanced extra processors, some custom graphical chips used in rare games and sound chips of VRC7/N106.

So, I want to know if you can give me the permission to use pseudroids you made (random drafts) ^^
